Obama will come out of this Blago scandal more of a SuperHero than ever. We now learn that the Daley machine supported Obama for the Senate because Obama was too honest, too much of a straight-shooter, not really part of the Daley machine, and they wanted to get him out of Illinois. This is the equivalent of Tammany Hall backing Teddy Roosevelt for the Vice Presidency, on the McKinley ticket, to get "that cowboy" out of New York. It's the equivalent of Harry Truman emerging from Missouri's Pendergast machine. Once every 50 years an honest politician steps out of the shadow of a local political machine to achieve national greatness. Obama is the embodiment of that phenomenon today. Remember, it was Obama who sponsored and authored the new Illinois Code of Ethics, which takes effect January 1, 2009, designed to thwart the kind of Pay For Play politics that Governor Blago personifies. The mere fact that Patrick Fitzgerald has announced that Obama had no involvement in Blago's corrupt practices won't silence the Right-Wing Talking Heads. However, when you are listening to these Talking Heads, keep in mind that you are really listening to Talking Asses.
