Jackie Mason Calls Obama a "Schwarze"
Jackie Mason likes the word "schwartze". He used it concerning Mayor David Dinkins of New York City in the 1990's, and now he's using it again regarding President Obama. Jackie does not mean to be offensive. In Yiddish, "schwarze' simply means "black" -- or it could refer to "a black person". In Yiddish, the word is not a racial slur. Jackie is trying tto be cute and endearing when he says "schwartze", not demeaning. When President Obama said that his lack of bowling skills belonged in the Special Olympics, he was not trying to offend anyone competing in the Special Olympics, and likewise Jackie Mason is not using the word "schwarze" as a putdown of Obama, Dinkins or any other black person. Jackie is a comedian, not a racist. As Senator Claghorn (Kenny Delmar) used to say to Fred Allen during the Golden Age of Comedy: "That's a Joke, Son, It's a Joke. I keep throwin' 'em -- and you keep droppin' 'em."

I agree with you here that Jackie Mason calling Obama a "Schwarze" was meant to be a term of enderment. I think we have need to step back and look at the intent of much of what people say instead of look for political polarity with everything we say and do. I would hate to be a politician or celebrity.
BTW when I was a kid I met Jackie Mason. He was the real deal and as nice and friendly as he could be. He never stopped trying to make me laugh no matter how corny his jokes would get.

Are you freaking serious?!?! Yeah what Jackie Mason said may have been a joke, I'll accept that. But our (blech) "president," who is SUPPOSED to represent EVERYONE in our great nation, has no place, whatsoever to poke fun at the Special Olympics. These athletes have no choice regarding their disability, whereas Obama is just a retard. He needs to show som damn tact.

Schwartze is not a racial slur...so presumably it's ok for black people to be refered to as "schwartzes" then? By whom, Rush Limbaugh?
Call a black person "schwartze" to their face & I doubt very much they'd appreciate it..."oh yes, that's a harmless yiddish expression for us black folks, no harm there, call me schwartze all day long if you like".
Term of endearment my backside. Mason is a right wing racist zionist arsehole who refused to allow comedian Ray Hanania perform before him because he is Palestinian...this despite the fact that Hanania co founded an Arab/Israeli comedy touring group with felloe jewish comics.
If Chris Rock had used a similar jewish slur in his act, how many people would be leaping to his defence? Same old story, say what you like...unless it's about jews, then say what jews like.
