Obama On His Bowling and The Special Olympics on Jay Leno
This matter has been very overblown. Obama was trying to make a joke about himself -- about his own lack of skill at bowling. The studio audience took it that way, and laughed at his joke. Obama was not trying to degrade people with disabilities, or those who compete in the Special Olympics. I doubt if it even occurred to Obama when he made this remark that it could be taken to refer to people in the Special Olympics rather than to himself.

Of course. Jackie Mason is a Republican. He just got in trouble for referring to Barack Obama as "a schwartze". To me, it's clear that Jackie, being a comedian, was just being light-hearted and making a joke. I have defended Jackie Mason, too, from accusations that he was being offensive.
