Republican Wedge Issues

The Republican Party's positions against women's reproductive choice, against gay marriage or civil unions, and in continually promoting Wedge Issues, are three more reasons why the GOP will be wandering in the wilderness for many years to come. The GOP's entire focus is on issues that divide and weaken America rather than those which unite and strengthen our nation. As shown in the last two elections, most Americans have by now seen through the GOP's pathetic charade. Hasta La Vista, Baby.

Yes I agree, I mean we need to strengthen the nation with more abortions and more gay marriages. We should promote and encourage this everywhere. Lets start having Abortion Showers instead of baby showers. What can we do to augment these numbers to strengthen our great nation? Suggestions?

Ha, way to go, Anonymous! It will strengthen the country to have more (voluntary) abortions and gay marriages!

More abortions means fewer unwanted children, which saves money and prevents toxic family situations. More gay marriage means less sham-based straight marriage, and that, again, saves money and prevents toxic family situations. What's not to like?

Zac you made my point, therefore more abortions and more gay marriages should be the USA's perogative, Right? Since it is better for the economy and families. Does it bother you that most abortions are performed on minorities? Is that racist?

Dear CJP - With all due respect I believe these two issues - abortion and gay rights/marriage - ARE the wedge issues. Decent people in this country refuse to cave in on these 'movements.'
It is absurd to dismiss this as so much right-wing posturing. There are many on both sides of the aisle that stand for and against these very sensitive and troubling issues. Give us more credit and don't use such a large broom to sweep it under your liberal rug. Pal, Thom
