Tax Day Tea Parties

These Republican Tax Day Tea Parties are a lot less like the American Revolution's Boston Tea Party, and much more like the Tea Party in Alice In Wonderland.

How can Republicans claim they are victims of "Taxation Without Representation"? There was an election, they voted -- and they lost. Who is to blame if fewer and fewer Americans want Republicans to represent them?

Now, the Alice In Wonderland Tea Party -- that's much more on point. There, you had a Mad Hatter, a Dormouse, Alice -- all sitting around, sipping tea and pontificating -- making wise, profound, extremely logical comments, like "I See What I Eat means the same thing as I Eat What I See"; and "I Breathe When I Sleep has the same meaning as I Sleep When I Breathe".

Clearly, the logic of the Alice In Wonderland Tea Party is the same as the logic of our current Republican Party and its Tax Day Tea Parties.

Until people like you can see their way past the left/right paradigm, those who control our government (not those who you think you elected) will have continued and unprecedented success in their march to a tyrannical socialism/communism in America and across the globe.

Please put the notion of Democrat v Republican, Left v Right or any other imposed attempts to divide us to its death! There is no room for it, there is no more time to waste -- IF you want the America we were handed by our forefathers.

PLEASE WAKE UP!

I feel that We the people are to blame, We Republicans and Democrats are to blame for not knowing what our represenatives are all about...control and power! It has nothing to do with which party your from or anything else. Because both sides are out of control! I vote for the canidate not straight party! I sure hope you dont want to hand your freedoms over either, because if we all dont get involved and say NO to more taxation without representation we are in trouble, worse then we are now! They have been slowly taking our freedoms away for years! For example: If they pass this cap and trade in the Presidents budget not 5% but all 100% of OUR taxes are going up and going up high so do some research! Lets fight together!
Lets not fight with eachother.

Hi,
1> No one is complaining about taxation without representation. We are complaining about government overspending which happened under Bush and now Obama. Obviously we are represented, I bet most of the people going to this voted (I know i did)

2> This event has NOTHING to do with the republican party. Seriously, I have no idea where you came up with that idea. The republicans spend to much also.

You could have found both of these things by going to the official website. It would have taken you 5 minutes tops to find the truth.

SG:

If Obama's massive spending programs save the economy from its near-Crash, then in time the financial system will recover and all will be well. These relatively small tax increases will be easily affordable, if everyone is prospering again.

Someday the revolt may arrive at your front door. I hope your prepared. The anger is growing.

OK, so I was about to get angry with you, but upon further examination of just your URL alone, I can see you are simply misinformed. A conservative, by definition, cannot be a communist. Communism is the ultimate extension of liberalism, not conservatism.

As far as taxation without representation, conservatives are angry because their voices are not being heard on the issue of taxes. Not technically the same thing against which our forbearers in Boston railed, but a valid reason for protest; it makes the voice louder and, as such, harder to ignore.

Add to the frustration created by the deaf ears in the White House and on Capitol Hill the fact that liberals are attempting through legislation like the Fairness Doctrine to silence even further the voice of the conservative movement, there is plenty of reason to protest.

Good thing free speech was there during national pivots like the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, Sufferage, etcetera.

Conservatives will continue to support the ideas in which they believe, until people of your ilk finally get a clue and read some history, which will lead you to see the failures of socialism every single time it is tried.

For now, you have no credibility. All I see on your blog are the same old bumper-sticker arguments so common to liberal thinking.

Research:
Karl Marx
Socialism
The Hegelian Dialectic
Trotskyism
Maoism

Take notes. Read your notes. Get a clue.

You are an idiot! You, and liberals like you, are the reason this once great country is being destroyed and handed over to Socialism! Liberalism is a disease of the ignorant, and you are terminal!

When the revolt happens, I'll be happy to hang your hide in my trophy case. People like you sheep will be first to the slaughter, and you'll likely go with glee, not knowing what's in store for you. Look how far you've gone already.

People like you have started far more than simple unrest or tea parties, The Holocaust, for instance; Started by socialists led by Hitler. Nazi was our nickname for germany's National Socialist Party.

Do your homework.

I think what we're seeing here is a shining example of the failures of the American education system.

CJP,

I hope that you can get pass the right/left dogma that we have been feed. The problem is not right/left but a choice between tyranny and freedom. It does not matter if it came from the Republicans or the Democrates, they are both leading us to the same place Fascism.

Just so that we have our terms correct Fascism is when the government and business work together to control the people. Keep in mind the politicians and businesses are very good at fighting in public, but then working together in private to take away our freedoms.

Please see this video so you know what I am talking about.

I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, or what good would the 1st Amendment be if we didn't. I do however agree that you are ill informed as this movement is not something that is against Democrats or Republicans. It's a movement against a government getting out of control. You'll notice many of the people in this movement do not classify themselves as Republicans, but as Conservative. The Republican party in my opinion has strayed to far moderate.

Know that a majority of Conservatives are gun toting and god fearing people. I hope you have neighbors that are conservative, because when it comes down to it, it will be the people like us that will protect your constitutional rights. You can thank our forefathers to have the intelligence that keeping the government in check is to give the power to the people and ensuing they KEEP that power.

I hope you find your way.

Dear Estel Powell:

I think you'll find that, historically, liberals and progressives have been just as staunch as conservatives in defending the United States
and individual rights. People of every political and religious persuasion, including atheists, have served valiantly in our Armed Forces over the years -- whether or not they "tote guns" every day in
civilian life.

The issue today, however, is a different one. When George Bush came into office eight years ago, the United States was more prosperous, more powerful, and more universally respected than it had ever been in its entire existence. Eight years later, when Bush left office, the US economy was on the verge of collapse. Banks, investment companies, the housing industry, the auto industry -- all were teetering on the precipice.

The question today is how to fix it. No one wants to institute Socialism or Communism. That's simply a figment of some conservatives' imaginations (or hallucinations). Can the economy be fixed just by tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans? Bush tried that for eight years, and the results have been disastrous.

Obama is trying a different approach -- massive stimulus and spending programs to pour large amounts of money into the system and get our
economy jump-started again. The stock market seems to like Obama's policies, since it has now been rising steadily as Obama's programs begin to take shape. Investors realize that Obama's goal is to save capitalism -- not to introduce any other "ism" into America.

As for control, well, if companies like General Motors and some major banks and insurance companies can only survive through a massive
bailout with taxpayer dollars, then the government has a right, indeed a responsibility, to make sure that these taxpayer dollars are applied wisely in the public interest, not just shelled out for huge officers' bonuses and costly vacation junkets.

As for the People keeping the Power, there is not much power the people can keep when you have massive unemployment, low-paying jobs, and a malfunctioning economy. What kind of power are you talking about? The power of being homeless or on welfare?
