Bush Was Grossly Inattentive to Al Quaida and Bin Laden

No offers were ever made by the government of Sudan to Bill Clinton to turn over Bin Laden to the USA. That's just one more myth in the galaxy of Conservative fabrications. Read Richard Clarke's book. Clarke was America's National Security Advisor under both Bushes and Clinton, and he knows a hell of a lot more about what happened than prattling Right-wing "Pundits" do.

Clinton was totally focused on Al Quaida and Bin Laden. He never had a real chance to capture or kill Bin Laden.

It was Bush who took his eye off the ball. Bush was totally obsessed with Saddam Hussein. He didn't even want to meet with Clarke or talk to him about Al Quaida and Bin Laden. That's why I blame Bush for allowing 9-11 to happen. Bush was guilty of gross negligence, lack of interest, and lack of attention. Now, finally, Obama has re-focused our efforts on Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the real terrorists are headquartered.

How can Republicans be so damn dumb?

What is it going to take to show you your wrong. Does this country need to completely fall apart or would another terrorist attack show you that Obamas stance on terrorism is a joke.
Obama wont even waterboard a terrorist to get information that could save American lives. What does he think will work with these people? They are willing to kill themselves in order to kill Americans. Do you believe if you ask them nicely they will tell you everything you want to know?

After World War II, we executed Japanese officers for water-boarding American prisoners during the war. Water-boarding was considered by the American government to be torture then -- when it was performed by the Japanese. When did that change? When Americans started doing it?

The waterboarding used by the japanese include extended periods of time and beating the prisoner until dead. Yes that qualifies as a war crime. Having someone dunk you in water for no longer than 40seconds isnt all that bad. Its not fun, but that is the point. Dont get me started on what the Japanese were prosecuted for doing to our soldiers!

CJP, if you had your way, you would bend over and let Al Quaida have its way with you. You offer no alternative, you love Al Quaida and love Bin Laden and would invite them over to your home and let them have their way with you and your family simply because you don't want to offend. After you lying on the floor bleeding from a perferated colon you might realize that you should have taken a eh hem "harder stance" with your house guests and worry less about offended them

You're defending Bush who shifted our troops away from pursuing Bin Laden and Al Quaida, and moved them instead to Iraq. So, what in the world are you ranting about? It was Bush and his Conservative Republicans who "let Al Quaida have its way" -- not the Democrats.

In fact, now that we have a Democrat in office again, we are finally resuming the full court press against Al Quaida.

Resuming? WTF? Maybe a full court press in your a$$, you dems di. Dems bitch and moaned at anything Bush would do protecting this country. You should be ashamed. You want America Destroyed don't you. You love Al Quaida. You would shake Bin Ladens hand wouldn't you.

CJP, you are a typical Democrat. Agreeing with anything any other Democrat says without having a mind of your own. You Democrats always point the finger at the complete opposite of what the problem really is.
If Bill Clinton didn’t have the opportunity to capture Bin Laden, then why did he release a public statement of apology after September 11th due to him lacking to take care of Bin Laden when Sudan had him? If you’re going to lie about it, then at least get your lies straight. I feel like I’m talking to a fifth grader with good grammar.

Dear Jim from WI:

Where is that Bill Clinton public apology? I haven't seen it or heard about it. Why don't you send me a copy of it?

Also, Richard Clarke was not "any other Democrat". He was America's top national security advisor under both Bushes and Clinton. I don't know whether Clarke is a Democrat or a Republican -- he served as a top national security official under both.

Capturing Osama bin Laden has been an objective of the United States government since the presidency of Bill Clinton. The Sudanese government offered to arrest and extradite Bin Laden as well as to provide the United States detailed intelligence information about growing militant organizations in the region, including Hezbollah and Hamas.Though U.S. authorities knew of bin Laden's involvement in bombings on an American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, they rejected the offer. According to an article by Mansoor Ijaz in the LA Times, Mr. Ijaz brought the U.S. two subsequent offers to "deal with Osama bin Laden". Three months after the final offer in 2000, al Qaeda operatives bombed the USS Cole. On September 11, 2001, members of al Qaeda carried out an attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Mansoor Ijaz, a former member of the CIA who participated directly in the United States' negotiations with Sudan for bin Laden, concludes, "Clinton’s failure to grasp the opportunity to unravel increasingly organized extremists, coupled with Berger’s assessments of their potential to directly threaten the U.S., represents one of the most serious foreign policy failures in American history."

So if there was no public statement of apology after September 11th due to him lacking to take care of Bin Laden when Sudan had him there sould of been.
