A Conservative "Comes The Revolution"

Some Conservatives, besides planning their "tea parties", are also saying that the Declaration of Independence would justify their starting a revolution now against President Obama and his administration.

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776, spelling out the right of American colonists to revolt against the rule of the British king. Then the Constitution was adopted in 1787, and it superseded the Declaration of Independence. Thereafter, in 1800, Thomas Jefferson became the third president of the United Sates. As president, Jefferson surely did not believe that his Declaration of Independence created a right for American citizens to start a revolution against their own government. Had there been an attempt at any such revolution, I'm sure President Jefferson would have taken strong military action to stop it. If Jefferson were alive today, I'm confident he would not find anything in his writings that would justify Americans starting a revolution against their own government now. I'm certain he would consider that sort of talk extremely "Un-American".
