There was a Sea Change in the 1960's and 70's -- under Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon. Since then, the shoe has been on the other foot.
Lyndon Johnson pushed for strong civil rights legislation and, once that legislation was passed, Nixon and Lee Atwater adopted a Southern Strategy. As a result, most white racists switched parties. They changed from D to R.
Nixon and Atwater told the white racists and bigots that they were welcome in the Republican Party, and most of them have found a very comfortable home there ever since.

Democrats have such a horrible racist record. They should be ashamed, but instead they take pride in it and say it was the republicans who are racists. How quickly we forget the civil rights of 1933, 1964, Jim Crow Laws. They want to take the credit for all the civil rights progress this country has achieved. They are the party of racism and it goes all the way back to slavery. They Love when minorities are on welfare because they are gauranteed their vote that way. They don't think minorities are as smart as the rest of the population. They are ALWAYS suprised when a minority is succesful on their own. IT is ALWAYS hard for them to believe a minority did not acheive success without Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action is always assumed when minorties are successful This make Democrats feel good about themselves because they don't believe the minorities are as smart as they are but that they can make them feel like they are just a little bit. Democrats should be ashamed of their past. It is truly shameful....
Conservatives believe that minorities are every bit capable as any race to succeed and of same intellect and are created equal.
Capitalism = Created Equal
Socialism = Kept Equal
Actually I believe that the democratic party is the biggest tent for racisted that has ever existed.
Democrats just want every hispanic, African American or native American to have everything they want. If your a caucasian male, your screwed!
Why do democrats feel that these people cant succeed on their own?
Why do African Americans have a higher unemployment rate than caucasians?
They have alot more opportunities than caucasians (education and equal rights employment), but still they work less. Why do you suppose that is? Or am I just being a racist?

Brandon....I'd also like to know on what basis you state that black people have more opportunities. What opportunities are you speaking of and where is your evidence. I am not suggesting you are right or wrong....just where is the evidence to support your position

Thanks. I would suspect that we wont hear from Brandon....or at least not any real evidence outside of his uninformed anecdotal opinion. The truth is that there is no factual evidence to support his position of greater educational and employment opportunities for African Americans.
You're right, Darin. In fact, there is plenty of evidence to support the fact that educational and employment opportunities for African Americans have been far worse than for whites -- thanks to an American history of discrimination, segregation, jim Crow laws, prejudice, etc.
That's why affirmative action programs were instituted -- to rectify this unfairness. These programs have worked, and now African Americans are making far more progress economically and socially than they were allowed to do in the past.
