The "Beer Summit"

The Conservative Talk Radio media is using this incident as a political weapon to bash President Obama and incense white racists against him by focusing on his initial comment that the Boston police acted "stupidly", and by ignoring all that he's said and done since then. President Obama is using this incident to bring together Gates and Crowley for a civil conversation, and to help lead the nation further along the path of racial reconciliation and mutual understanding. Who would you rather have leading this country?

"Who would you rather have leading this country?"

Obama is perfect for the times. A man of good words.

Gd, can you imagine what the world would be like, if the cons actually could read, and then read the good book?

Isn't it amazing that the good book mentions helping the poor more times than anything else, except loving HIM, and that's the last thing the cons want to do? Gd they are a contrary bunch.

I thought the "Audacity of Hops" headline on some of the news stations was pretty clever.

"Audacity of Hops"

Didn't see that one. Very clever. And I agree, booze can do wonders.

Anonymous said...

Anon, were you drunk last night? What the hell were you babbling about with Kafka?

Anonymous said...

Ah, he just babbles about unrelated stuff constantly. Can't keep on topic to save his life. That's his normal state.

So why hasnt Obama apoligized for his comment about the police department? He clearly CANT make the judgement against the police department since according to the police, they acted correctly and according to the professor, the police acted incorrectly. So according to Obama the police must be lying?

Hey, they had some suds and that made everything Obama said before OK, don'tcha know. No apology necessary.

And how about waiting up, and helping your friend down the stairs, eh?

I think a lot of what he says, whizzes over your head. Just my opinion.

Yeah, like hot gas from a busted pipe.

Has Obama apoligized for his comment about the police department yet?

Another stupid comment from Brandon. I don't know whether or not the Boston police acted "stupidly". But Brandon seems to have a never-ending supply of stupid comments.

I think the police should have to wear little cameras on their heads.

They have way to much power.

There's always someone lying in police/client confrontations, and it's never seems to be the police (unless there's a hidden camera around). If the police act so impeccably, then tape everything. Wouldn't that help the police in testifying in court? Well it would, if they are telling the truth. Maybe not so helpful if they are not.

Police. Another con tool.

What is it with you to? You dont have a problem with the president jumping to conclusions with out all the information need to make an informed decision? If it was Bush you would have ripped him apart, but since its Obama its ok, right?

CJP: why it it when you lack any intelligent argument you resort to name calling? Do you still asume the professor is telling the truth?

CJP said...

Brandon, the cop and the professor were both at fault. The reason Obama said the police acted "stupidly" was because he felt they could have and should have resolved the problem in a better way once they saw that the professor was sitting peacefully at his own kitchen table, and he felt harassed because he couldn't understand why the police were invading his home to question him about anything. Crowley was a highly trained, professional peace officer, and he should have acted in a more professional way to maintain the peace and to prevent this misunderstanding from escalating. In a situation like this, who do you blame -- the civilian sitting quietly in his own home, or the cop?

Brandon said...

See, there you go again! Blaming the police officer without all the details. I dont know whos fault it was. Acording to the professors story they both acted unprofessionally, but according to the officer, the officer did everything right. I am not saying the officer is telling the truth, but nobody can make that call until we have all the facts.
So I come back to the president making the same call as you without all the fact and embarrassing that police officer and his department without justification.

Little beanie cameras would solve a lot of problems. The cops would probably feel better (because they would look cooler) with little shoulder mounted cameras. That's fine with me also.

And I involved in a shooting (I was the shooter; pit bull) and I applaud how the police handled it (mostly). In the end, they basically told me "good job" (pretty sure they don't much like pit bulls either).

How can you make that judgement with out knowing who was lying?

CJP said...

I make judgments, Brandon. That's the kind of guy I am.

Brandon said...

Well that explains your views on almost everything else. Making judgements with out all of the details. So you stand my your call that the police office was lying and the professor is telling the truth, even if there is no evidence to support either story?

CJP said...

I never said anything like that, Brandon. But you Conservatives never have any problem making things up. The real world is an alien planet to Conservatives. You guys are Reality-Challenged.

Brandon said...

How could you come to this statement without believing that Crowly was lying. If you believe Crowly, then he wasnt at fault. Either way I cant make that call without more details. Nor should you or the president. When will Obama simply admit he made a mistake, or when will you admit he made a mistake.

Anonymous said...

GD cons are dumb.

Reaper said...

I agree Anon, now your finally talking sense.

Brandon said...

What is wrong with my statement?

CJP said...

Obama did more than apologize. Right off the bat, he said that the police did not act like racists. He said they acted "stupidly". Later, he backed off that statement and said that "stupidly" was a poor choice of words. What he should have said was that the police could have handled the situation in a better way. If they had been more diplomatic, there probably would have been no confrontation and Professor Gates, a lame man who walks with a cane, would not have ended up hand-cuffed in his own home.

The woman who called the police was no racist. She never even mentioned the race or color of the two men trying to enter the house. She even went so far as to say that it may have been two men trying to get into their own home. The police should have been fully aware of this possibility, which the woman had specifically alerted them to, and should have approached a citizen in his own home a little more deferentially and not in a confrontational manner.

Obama did more than apologize. The president called Officer Crowley in Boston and had a very friendly phone conversation with him, culminating in his invitation to Officer Crowley and Professor Gates to come to the White House, enjoy a beer, and have a civil conversation together.

It was a misunderstanding that had gotten blown way out of proportion. Professor Gates and Officer Crowley had already started talking to each other in Boston and were overcoming their problems even before they went to the White House.

Obama reached out to bring these two men together, and even admitted that he had made a poor choice of words in his initial remarks. In this entire episode, Obama showed that he is a national healer and a conciliator.

Only the Right Wing Hate Media saw this as an opportunity to infuriate white folks and went on a vitriolic rampage against Obama. Obama brings people together. The Right Wing Media is the Great Divider. "Divide and Conquer" has long been their strategy. Today, however, that strategy seems to be backfiring on them. Most people, whites and non-whites, are sick of this Conservative game. We watch with disbelief as Conservatives continue to marginalize themselves.
