Astro-Turfed Tea Parties

My dear friend Tulsan has stated:

"Another interesting aspect of these "tea parties" is that they are "astroturfed" (fake grassroots.)

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman touches on that fact in his column, Tea Parties Forever:

"...it turns out that the tea parties don’t represent a spontaneous outpouring of public sentiment. They’re AstroTurf (fake grass roots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects. In particular, a key role is being played by FreedomWorks, an organization run by Richard Armey, the former House majority leader, and supported by the usual group of right-wing billionaires. And the parties are, of course, being promoted heavily by Fox News."

AND

"President Obama is being called a 'socialist' who seeks to destroy capitalism. Why? Because he wants to raise the tax rate on the highest-income Americans back to, um, about 10 percentage points less than it was for most of the Reagan administration."

when did the economy take off? AFTER TAX DECREASES ON BUSINESS AND THE RICHEST IN AMERICA. Poor people do not employ anyone in America. It is the majority of the small businesses in America that make on average $250k - 500K that employ 70% of Americans. You idiots want to punish them with more taxes. That ought to really push up the employment in this country.

The gap between rich and poor has never been so wide as now.

Yeah, Big business has been gobbling up the small businesses for decades because small business cannot compete with big business. The middle class has been disappearing slowly for years due to outsourcing.

Bring back the medieval times of castles, surrounded by little huts where their slaves broke their backs for free. Only then a country can prosper ain't it?

Have you ever thought why companies are outsourcing? Hint: ITS BECAUSE OF GOVERNMENT! When your a big company and you pay off a politician you get richer. Why are you liberals just pointing fingers? The problem is government itself.

Get your facts straight Brienb and Brandon,

Small businesses are not the targets of tax increases. The tax increases, if there even are any, would be targeted at individuals who make a lot more that $250-500K a year. What are you trying to say by we "idiots" who want to tax the largest employers in the economy? Show me where and when we "idiots" or President Obama ever said he wanted to tax small businesses. In effect, the heath care bill would make providing health care for employers cheaper for small businesses and provide more freedom to expand their business.

Furthermore, outsourcing has to do with services such as IT troubleshooting that MNCs hire out to overseas employers because they will work for a lower wage. Its got nothing to do with US taxes on MNCs. They are simply following free market neo-liberal practices instigated and supported by the very same people you vote for. Its because of this practice that large businesses are able to "gobble up the small businesses." Do you even know what you mean by outsourcing?

You both should stop clutching to ideology and employ some of the "common sense" you and your leaders speak so highly of.

Well said, Andy. Keep those truths coming.

You will never be able to convince Brienb or Brandon. They are too brain-washed by the Right.

But the rest of us appreciate hearing someone like you spreading some common sense around.

I believe they are not the target of taxes, but the victims of taxes. You cant tax the wealthy without it trickling down to the rest of America.

Hey people we are all Americans we all have a stake in this. Name calling may make you feel better but you still offer no solution. Rich and Poor are degrees of a human condition that will always exist. Some people will always be willing to work harder than others to achieve more for more gain. If you take away incentive the great Economy America has will cease to be abundant. But the Anti-Trust Laws need to be enforced to ensure small business competition and consumer choice. If you think that raising taxes in a bad economy will stimulate the economy then you need to look at historical fact. CJP could you tell me where and when in history these events happened.

CJP still waiting for the historical facts that prove that higher taxes help a weak economy. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just asking for a event in history that will back up your remarks. The Rich and Poor gap is getting worse but there are Democrats and Republicans on that rich side.
