Rooting against America: Beck, other Conservatives cheer elimination of Chicago's Olympic bid
Conservative media figures have celebrated the International Olympic Committee's elimination of Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics and used the event to bash President Obama, who flew to Copenhagen to lobby IOC members on behalf of Chicago's bid. For instance, Glenn Beck called the news that Chicago's bid had failed "so sweet," Rush Limbaugh declared himself "happy" and "gleeful" with the results, and Matt Drudge proclaimed: "World rejects Obama."

Beck: "Oh, it's so sweet" that Chicago's bid failed; "savor this moment." On his radio program, Beck said: "Do not go anywhere. Don't -- do not look at the screen. Don't -- don't go to any other radio stations. Nothing. You don't want to hear this news -- I mean, please, please let me break this news to you. Oh, it's so sweet." After a commercial break, Beck's producer stated that "the first round of voting is up for the Olympic games, and the first city" -- at which point Beck interrupted, saying, "Wait! Wait for it! Wait for it. Enjoy this -- savor this moment." The producer continued, "And the first city to be eliminated is Chicago." You seem really concerned in what Beck and Limbaugh are doing! They are entertainers, not politicians. Maybe you should spend this much effort analyzing your own party.

The President left himself open to his critics for going in the first place. He has his handpicked general ask for more troops and he ignores him. This was the correct war according to him. Instead he ignores the request while our boys and girls are sitting ducks. Healthcare bill, unemployment going sky high and other problems should be immediate concerns. Not an Olympics that happens in 2016.

Rio probably beat out Chicago because Rio is one of the few cities in the world with a higher crime rate than Chicago. You may talk about the Chicago Mafia. That's nothing compared to Rio. The members of the Olympics Committee are probably major stockholders in bullet-proof vest manufacturing and distributing companies. They'll make a fortune in 2016.
Obama did not "ignore" his hand-picked general's request for more troops. Obama is thinking about it. "Thinking" -- that word was not in Dubya Bush's lexicon. I realize that Conservatives prefer the shoot-from-the-hip swaggering Texas cowboy approach to world affairs. After eight years, having a "mind" in the White House is something Conservatives will take a lot of getting used to. I don't think they can handle it. They are freaking out.
Thinking? The President doesn't have a plan for a request for more troops in the middle of a war? How could he be caught off guard with that? Sounds like he doesn't want to piss off the liberals. That's a shame when our boys and girls in the military are sitting ducks.

Maybe Obama realizes there's no winning a war over there against religious nuts.
I hear Obama is thinking about Bidens advice to use drones etc and greatly reduce the troops. Sounds good to me.

If that's the case then pull them out immediately. Why wait if he won't support them? Why keep them there as sitting ducks? What is the plan? I remember when the Bush critics couldn't stop saying he had no plan. I don't hear the same for Obama. Boy the left has really backed him into a corner.

After the cons incompetent handling of everything, we are comforted that their is some brain power in the white house for a change, and said brain power is not leaving it all up to God to take care of us.

Should Obama take several weeks to decide? Liberals should be all over this. We can discuss all the brain power you want but it doesn't change the fact that the Americans in the military are in harms way. You can't tell me that the Defense Dept didn't anticipate a possible request for more troops. What should the troops do while they want for the brilliance of Obama to make a decision? 3 weeks?? You can talk all you want about the prior administration but while you and the President do that the troops are dying now. Liberals worry about the terrorists in Gitmo but the stay quiet when it comes to American troops. Shame on you.

As soon as the libs issue their talking points, we'll hear how intelligent their response is. They'll be no mention of how our American troops have been moving targets for weeks until Obama finally thought to take action. People, the "simple" truth is we are leaving our brave American troops in harms way and I just don't know why. Obama should provide the help or pull them out.

Yes, its very simple in anyone's mind! If you need time to think about going to war, then think about it. If you are in the middle of the war and dont think you should continue the war, you end it! If your in a war and you want to continue fighting then you commit and send whatever your generals request.

That is an option, if the general isnt fighting the war the way the commander and chief wants it faught, fire him!
If Obama wants to end the war, bring everyone home! Dont leave our soldiers overseas without EVERYTHING they need. Give them all the funding, soldiers and gear they request or call it quites. We dont need another Vietnam.
