wow! WOW! Great blog! That is one real problem that I have with liberals. They seem to think that everyone is just stupid. Well in defense of that, lets just look at our schools. Teacher don't try to teach kids they just push them through the system. They arent learning anything in the public school system but still we do nothing to make it better, we just throw money at them and hope something sticks! Maybe if we want to be a smarter country we should look there first and put some competition in the schools! Make them compete for the kids instead of just know that they are going to get money and the kids to teach no matter how hard they try. Just look at private schools. Why are they so much better than public, are the kids different? Are the genetically altered to be smarter? No the teachers there know that if they dont teach the kids they will get fired and the school knows that if they dont perform they wont get the money they want. One option for the public school could be everybody gets a credit to do with it as they please and send their kid to whatever school they want, but no cant do that, then some schools might fail. Damn right! You dont perform you fail! Thats what happens in the real world, not in this lollipop and gumdrops world of Bailouts and handouts. You gotta putforth the effort to get the results!

Private schools are not better than public, once you consider the minorities. And what about private schools generally having stay at home mothers? Ninety percent of my neighbors have stay at home mothers, and 90 percent of my neighbors have well behaved kids that are doing well in school. Hmmm....
Private schools are better. I have been to both and there is no comparison. Private school teachers worry about losing their jobs because of poor performance. Public school teachers are protected by unions who seem to only care about the money. It seems they don't get fired unless the commit a crime. Anon is right. Public schools pump out kids to make them look good. Give minorities school vouchers and you'll see minorities perform alot better.

We're glad you don't live here either. I'm sure the USA has saved your country in the past. We usually help everyone even though they condemn us. Shows you what a truly great country the USA is.
Public schools in Germany produce kids that are way smarter on high school level than US college graduates. Why?
Well first of all we value education here and we don't cherish blind faith and pious stupidity.
Second of all we don't just talk big we act like we mean it. The yearly salary of a school teacher here is 50-60 K euros or about $70-80 K. They get early retirement, excellent health care etc. etc.
They do their best because they love their jobs and don't want to lose them. In the US school teacher is a negative label - it's a person who failed to get a real job. Why ? The average salary is half of what they make here, barely above poverty line.
The market has spoken. the job market that is.
