On Conspiracy Theories

Those people who claim that Bush, Cheney and their White House cohorts planned, plotted and executed the 9-11 attacks have, at least, made one positive contribution to the public discourse. Now, at last, after nearly 70 years, Conservatives have stopped saying that FDR planned, plotted and orchestrated the attack on Pearl Harbor.

At least, most Conservatives have stopped saying that.

However -- just like Japanese snipers still hiding out in caves on the Pacific Islands in the mid-1950's -- there are probably still a few Conservative holdouts.

???????? This is really funny. What a stretch. I have never heard this from anyone. This is the first time I've ever heard about this. I've never even read about this.
I got an idea for your next thread. Say something like "conservatives say Obama is an alien from outer space". lol

Conservatives are already saying that -- isn't Kenya in Outer Space?

You must be very young if you've never heard any Right-Wing Republicans say that FDR deliberately brought on the Pearl Harbor attack. Check out some of your favorite Far Right Wacko pundits.

Now, some liberals have said the same thing about Bush, Cheney and 9-11. I guess turn-about is fair play.

Who are these liberals? The only person I've heard say this is Charlie Sheen. Maybe you did but I've never heard real liberals say this. We might have differences of opinion but I've never said libs are stupid. Nor do I think that.
If cons have said it it would be nuts that no one pays attention to. I don't doubt you can find anything on the internet including conspiracy theories. Please direct me to the "real pundits" that have said it. I would like to know who they are. Not the person who is in his basement with a computer and nothing to do.
I'm 42 years old. I don't know whether you consider that young or old. This post just seems to be you trying to give libs a false rage toward cons on a non-existent issue. There are plenty of real issues we disagree on that we can debate. This just seems to be a waste of time.

Can you tell me one Conservative that said that? Send me the source so I can laugh at it.

I agree Brandon.

I don't pay much attention to those fools, either, fellows, but I'll be glad to look into it and let you know who said that about FDR.

Obviously, it was idiocy. But I think you should know that it was said, and I'll let you know who said it. Those jerks have a right to be remembered, for comments like that.

HOTR and Brandon:

I'm glad to hear you both agree that no Conservative ever said that FDR deliberately provoked and brought about the Pearl Harbor attack. I'm happy to hear you both agree that no Conservative ever said that.

So, let me start you off with a short reading list of the following books, just for openers. I'd help you rent a U-Haul truck if you really want to read all the books that promote this FDR conspiracy theory. But here are a few of those books, just to get you started:

Day Of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor by Robert Stinnett

The Pearl Harbor Myth: Rethinking the Unthinkable (Military Controversies) by George Victor

At Dawn We Slept: The Untold Story of Pearl Harbor by Gordon W. Prange

The New Dealers' War: FDR and the War Within by Thomas Fleming

Roosevelt's Secret War: FDR and World Wa... by Joseph E. Persico

Day of Infamy, 60th Anniversary: The Classic Accou... by Walter Lord

Remembering Satan: A Tragic Case of Recovered... by Lawrence Wright

After you've finished these, let me know if I can refer you to some other similar books.

We're not talking about conspiracy books here. This is an entire industry.

Brandon said...

Your saying these books indicate that "...FDR deliberately brought on the Pearl Harbor attack."?

Brandon said...

I'll agree he may have done things poorly and may have been able to prevent the attack, but its easy to say that after the fact. The same goes for 911.

"Day Of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor"

It seems that that book is telling about the mistakes FDR made prior to the attack, not how "...FDR deliberately brought on the Pearl Harbor attack!"

I am reading the same thing on "The Pearl Harbor Myth: Rethinking the Unthinkable"

Clearly, fellas, FDR did not master-mind Pearl Harbor --- and Incurious Dubya Bush, did not plan and plot the 9-11 attacks. However, the number of brain-dead morons in the USA who believe and repeat this mindless bull-poop, on both sides -- is astronomical.

I will agree with you on that! I enjoy debating topics with you and Raygun, but dont you find it pathetic when you debate a topic with one of those morons? I have found them on both sides, liberals and conservatives!
