I'm looking for a liberal blog that is not from 2 years ago. Are there any other blogs that are current.
CJP these subjects are old tired and repetitive I'm sure there is real news out there.
It is today's news that President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and that the predictable reaction of the Right-Wing media was to blast him for this incredible achievement.
The Right-Wing media is doing to Obama exactly what they did in the past to Clinton, Gore and Kerry.
My hobby is to keep track of these daily outrages by the Right-Wing media and to make people aware of them through these posts.
My latest posts are based on the smears which emanated from the Right-Wing media today, yesterday and the day before.
I don't blame you for feeling that these are old and tired. Two years ago, the Right-Wing was doing the same thing. In fact, they were doing it 16 years ago -- when Clinton first took office.
They will never stop doing it -- and I'm very glad to respond to them.
You should check out a Blog called Media Matters for America. They are probably the most informative liberal Blog in the entire Blogosphere.

When are you going to attemt a debate on something important? Examples: illegal alliens getting into the public option and why we havent passed anything fixing the health care system.
I'm glad that there are people out there that are telling the truth and CJP is one of them. NOT the CONS. Brainwashing is one of their tricks and the dummies are not even recognizing that they're being brainwashed and falling into their traps. Haha. I feel sorry for you CONS for feeling so much hatred towards your very own citizens.

Do you know of any blogs like yours that are not yours. That are current. One thing about you CJP you keep the Blog current. But I'm just bored now. You won't talk about the things they are doing to Health Care right now. You won't talk about how the International community is talking about getting out of the dollar. Which would kill us all with inflation.
What you are doing is distracting people from the real news going on right under their nose while you bitch about smears. CJP your a good writer, but your subject is stale and bland. Anybody know another blog like this one.

I do hope that a Health Care reform plan is passed before the end of the year and that it includes a public option.
But right now, there are too many proposals going back and forth, and I'm waiting for things to become more concrete.
I keep focusing on the smears because this constant daily onslaught of Right-Wing smears could paralyze the administration and prevent Obama from accomplishing anything worthwhile. That, of course, is the goal of the opposition. I don't want to see them get away with it.

Have you read the fourteenth amendment to the constitution? Do you think that is would force the U.S. to allow illegal alliens into our public option, if passed?
It sure sounds that way to me. Also, I got that lead from FOX. Have you read anything about it in the New York Times?

If... the 14th amendment does provide those rights to illegal alliens, then congress can put what ever they want into the bill and it will be over powered by a little thing called the constitution. (That is where you will find the 14th amendment)
I believe the only way around it would be a another amendment to the constitution and that will never be done, since most liberals want illegals to be covered.

The federal supreme court can over rule any precedents. So if an organization takes on this issue, such as the ACLU, they could take it to court and the supreme court could make a ruling on it.
My question to you is: After reading the 14th amendment, do you believe it would qualify illegal alliens in the public option?

The 14th Amendment applies to "All persons born or naturalized in the United States". It states that those people are citizens. The 14th Amendment says nothing at all about illegal immigrants. It does not deal with the subject.
The 14th Amendment was adopted shortly after the Civil War and its purpose was to ensure that all former slaves who had been born in the United States were now full citizens of this country. It is defining who is a citizen, namely -- "All persons born in the United States", even if they had previously been slaves; and all persons who had become or would become naturalized citizens. In that sense, the 14th Amendment was dealing with Legal immigrants who became naturalized citizens. It says nothing at all about illegal immigrants.
Illegal immigration may not have been much of a problem in 1868 when the 14th Amendment was adopted, so that issue was not dealt with at that time or in that amendment.

My point is there is alot of grey area in this amendment and all it would take is for a court to make a ruling on this issue. This line doesnt mention anything about being a citizen. So does it grant every PERSON the same legal rights?

I don't know the answer to that one. It's a very good question. A "person" could be interpreted to include an illegal alien. But, then again, this would mean that an illegal alien is now entitled to the equal protection of all the laws that are currently on the books.
I'm not aware of any case where an illegal alien has brought a lawsuit claiming that the equal protection of the laws applied to him. Do you know of such a case?
Brandon, I think the real answer to your question is that an illegal immigrant lives with the constant risk of being discovered and deported. Therefore, an illegal immigrant is most likely to avoid America's legal system, and not try to use it for his benefit.
For example, if an illegal immigrant went into court and invoked the Fourteenth Amendment, which provides for the "equal protection of the laws" -- well, among those laws are the laws providing for the deportation of illegal immigrants. Those laws would probably take precedence over any laws which are on the books for the benefit of "persons" who are living here legally.
Everyone who is living here legally -- whether or not that "person" is a citizen -- has a Social Security number. If an illegal immigrant went to court suing for the "equal protection of the laws", that person would have to provide his Social Security number. If he cannot do so, he would probably have given himself away and be subject to deportation.
It is hard to imagine how an illegal immigrant could obtain a Social Security number, except through some sort of fraud. Once the fraud is discovered, that person once again is subject to deportation. Every contact that such a person has with the U. S. legal system brings him one step closer to deportation.
So, it is very unlikely that any illegal immigrant would ever try to invoke the "equal protection of the laws" under the Fourteenth Amendment. Those "laws" include the deportation laws.

Unemployment for example has a special number to call if "You are having difficulty proving your citizenship".
The fact is that our government likes illegals because they are trying to figure out ways to make it easier for them to vote.

ok..for all of you out there who think that they wont give health care to illegals...your right. Instead, they are going to make the illegals, legal citizens. So your right in what you are saying but in fact what they are doing is absolutly perposterious. These people who came here illegally are criminals, they broke the law. but no one seems to care about that, in todays world we are more worried about whether or not our prisoners are comfortable rather that what they did to get there. These illegal immigrants if they want to be here should have to go back to Mexico or whereever else and come back here the right way, not just get to stay here cause they are here. With that logic if a broke into a football stadium through and opening in the fence and they found me without a ticket they wouldnt say "Oh well you did get in" no they would tell me to get the F out! If you watched even one of Beck's shows and researched what he says you would see how much truth he is speaking. Are some of his ideas radical? Sure. But i think they need to be in a time like this when there are so many radicals in the white house right now. If you dont believe me research it. Look at all of those people surrounding Obama, most of them are someway or another connected to socialism or communism but i guess that just what you want is for us to become a communist society, thats what some of them want.
