Having the Trials in New York Could Be of Great Benefit to the USA

Since we are locked in a propaganda war with Al Quaida -- not just a military war -- having the trials in New York could turn into a huge boon for the USA.

We will show the world how our system of justice operates, and we will be able to publicize the viciousness of Al Quaida terrorists from the testimony and all the other evidence submitted in open court.

If we are trying to win the hearts and minds of the people of Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Muslim countries, these trials could turn out to be of great benefit to us.

Everyone knew of the enormity of the Nazi crimes by the time World War II ended. We could have shot the leading Nazi war criminals the moment they were caught.

However, the Nuremberg Trials produced a huge mountain of testimony and documentary evidence which created a full record of those crimes for all the world to see and remember -- a record which is preserved forever.

Today, after all, why do so many of the local people in Afghanistan and Pakistan still give help and refuge to Al Quaida and the Taliban? Our enemies have been very successful in using the abuses that were committed at Gitmo as propaganda against us.

Hopefully, the evidence which is produced at the New York trials, and the very existence of these trials themselves -- will give us a powerful new propaganda weapon to use against our enemies in the battle for the hearts and minds of the local populations.

Yes, yes. Winning the hearts has always worked in the past. lol

So has losing the hearts and minds -- as in Viet Nam and Red China, for example.

You mean Red China has lent us lots of money even though we lost their hearts?

How come a Communist country is so much wealthier than a capitalist one?

How come Chinese Communists are the lenders and American capitalists are the debt-ridden borrowers?

How did that happen, HOTR?

Because it's citizens live in total poverty and get paid pennies. The government keeps everything. You must love their system since you want Obama to do the same.

Is this what you are talking about -- here in the USA, HOTR:

By Amy Goldstein
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, November 16, 2009:

The number of Americans who lack dependable access to adequate food shot up last year to 49 million, the largest number since the government has been keeping track, according to a federal report released Monday that shows particularly steep increases in food scarcity among families with children.

Report: More Americans going hungry

The USDA's 2008 report found, nearly 17 million children -- more than one in five across the United States -- were living in households in which food at times ran short, up from slightly more than 12 million youngsters the year before. And the number of children who sometimes were outright hungry rose from nearly 700,000 to almost 1.1 million.

Among people of all ages, nearly 15 percent last year did not consistently have adequate food, compared with about 11 percent in 2007, the greatest deterioration in access to food during a single year in the history of the report.

Taken together, the findings provide the latest glimpse into the toll that the weak economy has taken on the well-being of the nation's residents. The findings are from a snapshot of food in America that the U.S. Agriculture Department has issued every year since 1995, based on Census Bureau surveys. It documents both Americans who are scrounging for adequate food -- people living with some amount of "food insecurity" in the lexicon of experts -- and those whose food shortages are so severe that they are hungry.

Is this supposed to show that our poverty is as bad as China's who has so much money they're lending it to us?

Of course I have never done research on this but I can speak by experience. I assure you that the people in your study don't live in the poorest parts of the Bronx because whoever doesn't work, gets plenty of foodstamps. Every eats excepts drug addicts or alcoholics that have lost the ability to care for themselves in that manner.
Where do these people live? I would be interested if they're are any bloggers here that could speak about their area. Do you know one in five people that are going hungry?

Casey said...

I live in Michigan, and I can assure you that although this state is hurting, I kon't know a single person who is going hungry. What food stamps don't cover, there are private organizations to help (because we Americans are so evil and greedy)
One of my neighbors gets $600/mo in food stamps. Pretty hard to starve in this country

The hunger in the USA cannot be compared with for example Africa.

In that continent the hunger is chronic while in the USA the hunger is not chronic.

Africa is definitely not a continent where the majority of countries are communist.

There shouldn't be a reason for the so called "richest" country in the world for anyone to go hungry for even 1 day!

Anon2

PS: and don't blame the poor for being hungry, pleazzze.

I just wish a real person would tell us that they have seen people who go hungry at night. I've been to some pretty poor areas on the eastern side of the country and have yet to hear of a single person go hungry. I get very sceptical of these types of stories because I don't see any evidence of it. With the internet and blogs its getting more and more difficult to pass these stories because there is always someone who can confirm it. I have never seen a normal American confirm this. There is not one poor person in America who can't get food stamps.

Why do you think Boeing is building its new facility in S.C. instead of Washington???

CJP, when does Obama eliminate military tribunals? Shouldn't he just come out and say that's his goal since it's so obvious?

Already having negative consequenses if NY. Obama doesn't want to pay NY $75 million cost to secure NY. The gall of Obama. He expects NY'ers to pay for this circus. Even Chuck Schumer is calling Obama out. Some benefit!

CJP said...

One trial at a time, HOTR. Obama is taking it step by step.

I'm sure he's hoping that the trial in SDNY will be a showcase trial to promote the image of America around the world.

By the way, when I referred last week to "civilization" being found in Manhattan what I was thinking about was the federal Southern District
Court of New York. What I had in mind is that --- I believe, and hope, this terrorist trial will be a showcase to the world on behalf of "American civilization."

None of us has the slightest doubt that Khalid Sheik Mohammed will get convicted in Manhattan, and will most likely get the death penalty. Since the result is pretty much of a certainty, our country may as well get the maximum propaganda value out of this trial. Things are now heading in that direction.

$75 million for security in New York?

Well, think of the benefit in tourism to New York City, as so many tourists pour into town to watch the judicial circus.

hispanicontheright said...

Yeah, yeah, he'll get convicted. We know you have someone on the inside that's guaranteed that to you. I'm talking about the $75 million NY will have to cough up. I'm sure you think the feds should pay for this since they want the circus in town. Or do you think that 8 years since 911 that NY should be hit again? NY is broke already. The dems have made sure of that.

People are having problems paying their bills and you think they have time for this? Are you coming to watch?

Suppose they don't. Then what?

CJP said...

You're too negative, HOTR. Think optimistically. The Power of Positive Thinking, you know.

Casey said...

That is the dumbest arguement that I have heard yet. Tourism will pay for it? C'mon. Get real.

See, this is what the libs don't get. While they talk positive thinking, NY'ers will have "real" consequences in paying for it thru taxes. I will "really" have to pay and you will be "thinking positive."

hispanicontheright said...

CJP, are you "thinking positive" about the health care plan? Are you thinking positive about all the spending the democrats are doing? Hell of lot good that does the American people.

Casey said...

Hey HOTR---you can think positive and maybe send some "good vibes" while you are at it! :)

hispanicontheright said...

Let's think positive about a world without terrorists!

Casey said...

OMMMM....(I am deeply meditating on that) New mantra...No Terrorist, no terrorist....OMMMM

hispanicontheright said...

That'll be great for CJP and the libs because they'll never have to admit we're at war with terrorists ever again!

Casey said...

And everything will be roses and sunshine, and we can hold hands and sing "we are the world". OMMMM...
