The 9/11 Commission Report, discussing Mohammed's terrorist ambitions, called him a "self-cast star." "I am the mastermind of 9/11, not Osama bin Laden," he said in one court hearing.
While at Guantanamo Bay, where he has been held since September 2006, Mohammed said he wants to be executed so that he can die a martyr. It is unclear whether he will maintain that position in U.S. District Court.
Chances are that the US District Court will grant him his wish anyway.

The fact that Mohammed wasn't killed during being detained is a mystery also for me. I think that with this media circus he and his fanatic religion gets more publicity, which is just what he could hope for. Anyway I don't see anything better in trying him as a criminal, because there is a slight but possible chance, that his punishment might somehow get milder and that is certainly not what anyone would want. The USA is in war with Afghanistan because of his act, so I would also try him before the military tribunal - putting aside his probable upper-mentioned satisfaction concerning the holy war nonsense. The Gitmo detainees were held there for eight years without a trial or any other disposition. That's why they are being tried now.
Since the administration is trying to close Gitmo, these detainees will now be tried in a civilian court.

Wasn't Saddam Hussein given a trial before he was hanged? This is the same procedure.

This difference that the libs just can't comprehend is simple. Muhammed was an American with constitutional rights. Though his acts were definetly terrorist acts they were not an act of war.
Close Gitmo and put the guy in general population in an American prison and he will be killed. That's a no brainer. Unfortunately, he may also gain a few converts before he dies a violent death.
