Right Wingnuts Hand Democrats Another Congressional Seat

The Right Wingnuts led by Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin lost their election in the 23rd Congressional District of New York as the ultra-conservative Republican candidate Doug Hoffman conceded to Democrat Bill Owens.

Owens gained 49 percent of the vote, versus 46 percent for Hoffman, and six percent for Dede Scozzafava, whose name was still on the ballot, even though she dropped out of the race.

This race saw the original Republican challenger Dede Scozzafava back out of the race under extreme pressure from within her own party and the Right Wingnut fringe. They - led by media pundits Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin - hand picked Doug Hoffman as the man who would save them. With their withering communications drumbeat, Hoffman rose from nowhere in the polls to the point of being considered the front runner before tonight's election.

Had the Right-Wingnuts stayed out of the race and allowed Scozzafava to run her campaign, the GOP would doubtlessly have kept this seat, which had voted consistently Republican since the days of Ulysses S. Grant. Now, however, the Democrats have won five consecutive special Congressional elections.

The Far Right has demonstrated exactly how they can keep the Democrats in power forever. Keep purging moderate Republican candidates, replace them with Far Right Conservatives, and the Republican Party will continue its descent into the dustbin of history.

Bring on 2010, Wingnuts!!

Don't thank the right wing for that. Thank Barak Obama for not coming to NY. He campaigned for Corzine and Deeds and they lost. Everyone he campaigned for LOST!!! LOL You should be thankful Obama didn't come to NY.

CJP said...

Well -- whatever it takes.

Of course, Palin did come to New York. I guess the Dems should be thanking Palin for her contribution to this race.

How'd it go in NJ and VA?

RayGun said...

I'm an independent progressive, but thanks Palin, anyway.

For the record, I don't dislike all cons, just the cons like w, Palin, Bachmann, etc.

CJP said...

NJ and VA, Harrison?

Well, in NJ, Governor Corzine was vastly unpopular. A few months ago, he was down in the polls by over 25 points. For him to lose by only 5 points represented a huge comeback by him.

In VA, the Democrat Deeds was a very poor candidate. He ran as a Conservative Blue Dog Democrat, opposing many of Obama's policies. As a result, a great many Obama supporters stayed home and the Republicans swept the state. However, today, the victorious VA Republicans have said they would govern the state towards the center, not towards the Right.

The lesson Republicans should learn from this 2009 election is that when they move towards centrist, moderate positions, they can win.

But when, as in NY 23, they move towards the Far-Right positions of Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Malkin,The Washington Times, etc., and jettison a moderate Republican in favor of a Far Right ideologue, then they can't even deliver a Congressional District which has been Republican since the dawn of time.

HOTR and BB, would you vote for Palin or Bachmann for president? (Don't accuse me of woman bias as I voted for Hillary in the primary.)

Brandon said...

Raygun-
Why do you hate Palin so much???

I understand that she believes in god and you dont.

I understand she is a conservative.

But what has she done that makes you hate her so much and please dont just call her stupid. That seems to be your main complaint about her but you could say that about almost every politician.

RayGun said...

BB, Palin is simple minded, like w is (I do think w learned the world is a little more complicated than his simplistic original view). I would say she is at least twice as simple minded as w. We now know what damage a simple mind can do to a country as we have seen through w.

How can cons not learn from their past mistakes? That's what's so great about being a progressive, as by definition we learn from the past.

She is not in anyway capable to perform the job. And if she does somehow manage to make it into the presidency (in which case I will move, most likely to New Zealand) what happens when her God whispers to her, "It's time, the time has come, as the good book predicts, for Armageddon." ?

BB, it's not good to let people who believe in imaginary beings have nukes. I personally think she's only slightly less crazy than the Iranians. And even Obama, one way or the other, will not allow the Iranians to have a nuke.

CJP said...

Brandon, when Sarah Palin first appeared on the national scene in 2008, one of her first comments was that Obama "pals around with terrrorists".

One of her next comments was that she could see Vladimir Putin fly over her house in Alaska.

It was pretty much downhill from there.

RayGun said...

BB regarding Palin, prime example:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1109/29267.html

if policy-makers don’t believe a child in the womb is valuable, then “perhaps the same mind-set applies to other persons.”

“What may they feel about an elderly person who doesn’t have a whole lot of productive years left,”

but repeatedly suggested that liberal social policies could lead to de facto euthanasia.

She's full of shit, just like w was full of it regarding Iraq. w knew he was lying, and Palin knows there are not going to be death panels but she just keeps repeating it. What's that make her? Whats there to like BB?

Brandon said...

"How can cons not learn from their past mistakes? "
-Raygun

Funny, your the one who keeps repeating this comment, yet I have shown you that the democrats are as much as fault as the republicans or Bush for that matter.

Why are people like you just sitting back and claiming none of this is your fault!

RayGun said...

BB, Palin is worse than w times 2.

And Palin is starting the lies (death panels), like w did (Iraq) and you say shes ok? And you voted for w twice? JFC BB, ask the Euros why God is not helping them live as comfy life as us (US). Tell them to just pray harder. Go listen to Bono.

hispanicontheright said...

I'm no Palin expert but I do know that the citizens of Alaska are alot better off then the citizens in Chicago. lol. Great job Obama.

RayGun said...

"I'm no Palin expert ..."

You cons are all Palin experts, as you are all RayGun experts, as you all are w experts.

Get over it. RayGun was right for the times, but the times have changed.

JFC, what don't ye all get? (hint, times have changed...)

I agree. The honeymoon is over for Obama.

Not what i believe, what i know.

Then you cons, please quit bringing HIM into our lives. thanks

HE is our problem today...

How are conservatives bringing him into your life and how many problems is he causing?

I know you have religious nuts but you also have eco nuts, political nut, sports nuts and gold nuts.

JFC BB, you guys cram HIM down our throats. Abortion, Homos, Sex, on and on.

God doesnt make my views on those topics. I believe abortions are murder and you dont have to believe in god to believe murder is wrong.

You didnt address the your second point: "HE is our problem today..."

regarding abortions, women shouldn't have autonomy over their own bodies?

Brandon said...

"regarding abortions, women shouldn't have autonomy over their own bodies?"
-Raygun

Both you and CJP dont want to open up to the idea that a baby belongs to both the man and woman!

If a woman doesnt want to have a child, dont have sex or at least use protection! If she doesnt want to take those precautions then she is going to accept the consequences.

RayGun said...

"If she doesnt want to take those precautions then she is going to accept the consequences. "
--
yes bb, those consequences, are you (the man) telling her what to do. is your girlfriend listening to what you are saying?

RayGun said...

bb, ask your girlfriend. "do you deserve autonomy over your own body".

plz get back to me bb, on what she says.

Brandon said...

"are you (the man) telling her what to do. is your girlfriend listening to what you are saying?"
-Raygun

I am not forcing my girlfriend to have sex with me, thats rape if she doesnt want to have sex. So like I said, she has a choice!

Brandon said...

"bb, ask your girlfriend. "do you deserve autonomy over your own body"."
-Raygun

Everyone should have control over their own body, thats a no brainer!!! When your having a kid their are two bodies involved. Mother and child.

RayGun said...

"Everyone should have control over their own body, thats a no brainer!!!"

So you're saying women must be forced to have their kids, once they become pregnant?

Brandon said...

"So you're saying women must be forced to have their kids, once they become pregnant?"
-Raygun

Yes! There maybe some areas you could debate this with me but for the most part, yes!

CJP said...

So, Conservatives don't really believe in freedom and liberty, do they, Brandon?

RayGun said...

When your having a kid their are two bodies involved. Mother and child.
--
BB, it's one body as the child can not live without the mother. Thats pretty much what the courts decided also. Once the kid is viable, it is human.

BB, does your girlfriend know how you think on the subject?

Brandon said...

"BB, does your girlfriend know how you think on the subject?"
-Raygun

Yes, and she agrees with me on this subject! Its pretty simple if you dont want to have a kid keep your legs shut!

Brandon said...

"Once the kid is viable, it is human."
-Raygun

When do you decide if its viable???

RayGun said...

JC BB, when it can live without its mother.

RayGun said...

BB, what about all those potential children you kill 3-20 times per week?

Brandon said...

"JC BB, when it can live without its mother."
-Raygun

When is that??? 6 months, 8 months or 8 months 7 days?

"BB, what about all those potential children you kill 3-20 times per week?"
-Raygun

Your going to have to elaborate on this one. No idea what your talking about.

RayGun said...

"When is that??? 6 months, 8 months or 8 months 7 days?"

Whatever the abortion laws are, I am not sure, but guessing 4-5 months or so.
--
"Your going to have to elaborate on this one. No idea what your talking about."

Comon BB, quite playing dumb. Is your girlfriend reading this? Ok hint; Spilling seeds.

Brandon said...

"Whatever the abortion laws are, I am not sure, but guessing 4-5 months or so."
-Raygun

Thanks for making my point! You have know idea when a child is viable, neither does the courts. Everyone is different and child could become viable before you think and a viable fetus could be aborted and that would be murder, even in your book.

Brandon said...

If a machine was created that could allow any fetus to grow without the mother, would you ban abortions?

RayGun said...

I wouldn't ban abortions, but the courts might.

Comon BB, what about the seed spilling, aren't you killing your own?

Brandon said...

"Comon BB, what about the seed spilling, aren't you killing your own?"
-Raygun

I dont think thats ever close to being a human. Are you killing yourself when you cut your hair?

RayGun said...

Oh my dear God, BB you have gone off the deep end. You're comparing hair and sperm?

Brandon said...

yes

RayGun said...

Can we take a vote on whether BB has his girlfriend standing behind him and whether or not he's crazy for equating sperm and hair as equally human?

Brandon said...

"he's crazy for equating sperm and hair as equally human?"
-Raygun

Equally not human and yes shes behind me watching a movie.

CJP said...

What's the movie, Brandon? Is it hot?

Brandon said...

"What's the movie, Brandon? Is it hot?"
-CJP

"Aliens in the Attic" Not much to rent tonight. LOL

CJP said...

Try subscribing to NetFlix. We do. They're excellent.

Brandon said...

I really should, I watch alot of movies and it does add up.

CJP said...

Brandon, I think Net Flix is great. We watch their movies four or five nights a week, and they save us a fortune.

I used to go out to karaoke clubs and piano bars 3 or 4 nights a week. Now, thanks to Net Flix, I'm staying home most nights and enjoying much better entertainment.

It's a small rental fee per month to watch about 15 or 16 movies a month. The monthly rental fee is less than I would spend in one night at a bar -- and I'm not that much of a drinker.

Do you use the netflicks downloads? I have 3 meg DSL, would that be fast enough???

CJP said...

I don't use NetFlix downloads, so I can't answer your technical question. You'll have to ask NetFlix that question.

You may need a Play Station 3 to use some of their downloads.

RayGun said...

Im checking as we speak on Net Flix downloads. We are signed up for 7 discs at a time from NetFlix and it's still a pain. I want the download deal, just need to figure out how to do it without a computer.
