Obama, Speechwriters Blindsided by Unemployment Dip

The conspiracy theorists will hate this one: the White House was so caught off guard by the improving employment data released today that President Obama’s speechwriters had to do major surgery on a draft of the remarks he later made today in Allentown, Pa, insiders tell The Mouth.
The Labor Department reported that the unemployment rate actually dipped to 10%, when many officials, including Obama, expected it to get worse. It was the best job loss data released since 2007.
So, when the new numbers came out this morning, Obama hugged his top economic adviser, then he and his aides scrambled to rewrite the speech.
I suspect Obama will be having many more similar embarrassments in the coming months.

You mean like telling everyone if we pass the stimulus the unemployment rate wont go over 8%, oops that is embarrassing!
Strange that Canada has an unemployment rate of 8% while we are also going through tough times.
It has not been higher during this recession.
Banks and financial institutions are regulated here. It is said, that's the main reason for the lower percentage.
We also added billions to the coffers of Detroit in bailouts because of their branch plants here.
Hope that you unemployed, involuntary part-timers and the "I give up" ones in the states will find good paying jobs soon.
Must have been a nice embarrassment for president Obama.
Congrats and hope the % of unemployed will drop further as soon as possible and of course jobs will be created.
I wish they would inject another 500 billion into the economy. Sounds like they might, with leftover TARP funds etc. The unemployment rates need to be lower before the next set of elections.

Sorry BB, I wasn't paying attention to the whole 1033 deal. I was going to vote against it, as I vote against all property taxes and bonds that mostly go to pay for other peoples kids schooling. My feeling is, that if people want to have all these kids then they should have to pay for them, not me.

As long as I pay my taxes, which pay for others kids schooling, then I don't worry about them taking my property.

I-1033 was a limit on the amount government can increase property tax, not an increase in property tax. I guess you fell for the liberals lies also!

Again, I wasn't paying much attention, but I would of voted for it if I had voted. I always vote for reducing any and all forms of taxes that go to paying for other kids schools.
I personally think cons should pay a larger percentage than non cons, since cons are always trying to tell mothers what to do and to not get abortions, birth control, etc.

Abortions and birth control are legal, why should conservatives pay more? Conservatives have tried to cut your taxes but you liberals continue to increase them.

Why don't you cons cut programs when you have the chance, to pay for your tax cuts? Why didn't w, RayGun, Bush the wiser ever come close to balancing the budget after all their tax cuts? Hilarious that Clinton was the only one to ever balance the budget.

Because Bush wasnt a true conservative. He gave into pressure from the liberals crying about their social programs and Clinton never balanced the budget. He did come close by jacking taxes thru the roof.

What about your hero RayGun? W,RayGun,Bush the wiser, were all horrific spenders. Obama has caught on to the con trick. Cut taxes, increase spending, and just borrow the difference.

You cons own God as you think hes on your side because you oppose abortion, homosexuals, and anything sexual. So any unwanted kids that result from cons meddling ways, should be paid for by cons. I bet the cons self righteous blathering would die quickly if their precious green was involved.
