We have all heard of the Big Lie. Simply start with one tiny grain of truth and then extrapolate on that and turn it into a mountain.
Yes, someone at that Massachusetts school conference in 2001 did discuss "fisting" with some students. There were 50 different events going on at the same time, and this conversation apparently happened at one of those events.
So, suddenly, Kevin Jennings is "inept", a "pedophile", etc.
If one is involved in as many excellent activities as Kevin Jennings has been all his life, someone is bound to mess up somewhere along the way. Only a Right-Wing homophobic organization like MassHysteria (which should be its name) can turn such an incident into a vicious attack on Kevin Jennings, and only very gullible people would believe them.
As long as Obama is trying to run a gay-friendly administration, organizations like MassResistance, Punditgate and The Washington Times will say anything they can to rally our anti-gay citizens into the Republican column.
Jennings' organization, GLSEN, has done a superb job of bringing straight and gay students together, and overcoming much of the anti-gay prejudice that used to exist in schools (although plenty still remains). Jennings has never engaged in or condoned discussions of "fisting" or other topics that would be inappropriate for students.
However, the Right-Wing homophobes think they see an opportunity to destroy an Obama "Czar" and they leap at the opportunity. Hopefully, they will be hoisted on their own petard.
I'm glad to see there are other sites on the Internet which are hurling this gauntlet right back at them. Check out Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters; and Media Matters For America.

Crazy cons need to get over their homo phobia. That's what this is all about. Grow up cons.

How do you know this?
Ahhh...back to name calling. Homophobe. I think my original comment was that he has too much baggage. I still feel that he does. Besides, I don't believe that this gay/straight relation thing is the biggest thing facing our kids these days. This may be his own special interest, but there are MUCH bigger things that our kids are facing. (ie: gangs, violence, failing grades in comparison to other nations, general bullying affecting ALL students, teenage pregnancy, high drop out rate...but I am glad that that gay/straight thing is being addressed)Gee...I don't remember that ever being a problem.
WOW, CJP. I have inspired 4 articles on this BLOG. I must be your new muse...You are even quoting me. I must really be pissing you off! LOL
We are talking about young gay males who are in fact out having sex at ages 15 or 16, and are actively seeking sex with older men.---CJP
For the record, I did NOT call Jennings a Pediophile. I consider a 35 year old man on a bus that picks up a 16 yr old boy for sex a pediophile, but I did not call Jennings one. I think that Jennings showed very poor judgement in handling this situation. Not professional, not in the best interest of the child.
Now, I would like to know why you are holding gay kids to a different standard of behavior than that of straight kids?
Why is going home for sex with a 35 yr old stranger okay for a gay child, but not a straight one? That sounds weird to me. And the belief that young (very) gay males are LOOKING for sex with 35 yr old strangers, sounds like something that NAMBLA uses for their arguements in favor of sex with children. Don't they believe it is for the benefit of the child? (well, they really don't BELIEVE that, they just SAY that.) CJP, I wouldn't scrap that arguement. Not a good one...
Oh crazy cons, how can you not see? Are you so blind? Are you such fools? What do you need, besides your precious green cotton, the essence of your being? I beseech you to seek the truth. :-)

When are you going to donate all your money to charity?
"I beseech you to seek the truth. :-)"
I was throwing bait into the river...
Raygun-
You critize conservatives for having a "love for money" but when are you going to give all your money away to help your fellow man? When are you going to donate your time to help your fellow man? Why does you company make so much money? Does the government need to take over you company and charge less? Do you need a pay cap?
"Why does you company make so much money? "

Because 11 years ago, oops, I graduated in 98, so around 16 years ago the government steered me into computers. I didn't have a clue back then. Anyway, Clintons programs offered me time and time again a chance with computers, and they didn't force me (I thought originally I knew best and went into the legal field). They saw the future. Plus the government didn't bitch when I took extra classes. I did 5.5 years of college in 4 years, although all I have is a 4 year degree. I appreciate it (even though I earned it after suffering 10 years in the USAF.) BB again, all I really want the government to do is manage health care, or at least compete in it. And free higher education would be great as I know first hand what it can do. Oh, and I graduated with a 3.89 grade point average. I had around 20 k saved, before starting college, bought a town home, went to school more than full time, and didn't have to work a real job 1 minute in 4 years. Plus when I got out, the town home had appreciated, I can't remember, around 50k or so. I wish more people had the chance. I guess maybe they do, if they want to join the military.

Yes BB, and also a love of God. And the 2 do not get along. Please give up one or the other. Otherwise you sound like idiots.

How do you figure the two dont get along? Poor people cant help as much as rich people!

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." Matthew 6:24
The cons sure try and serve both. Maybe that's why the con leaders sound like such a crazy lot.

Conservative dont serve money, they use money to serve god and help the poor. Liberals just serve themselves anyway they can!
Liberals proclaim themselves to be working for the poor but everytime they do something the rich get richer. Stimulus, TARP and cash for clunkers!
Yeah Brandon. If there are any questions about that, check out the federal employee salaries. They get fat raises while the rest of the country is out of work.
Federal workers owe more than $3 billion in income taxes they failed to pay in 2008. According to Internal Revenue Service documents, 276,300 federal employees and retirees owe $3,042,200,000.
OR
http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/20091211
The number of federal workers earning six-figure salaries has exploded during the recession, according to a USA TODAY analysis of federal salary data.
Federal employees making salaries of $100,000 or more jumped from 14% to 19% of civil servants during the recession's first 18 months — and that's before overtime pay and bonuses are counted.
There is something wrong here. We all feel it. The priorities are off, the direction is off, and there are so many favors being re-paid and earmarks to buy votes in this senate, that we are all getting disgusted.
Check this out:
This just supports what I was just posting. We are all disgusted.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18.
His approval rating is now at 44% and dropping fast...

I agree with you CC on this at least. Way too much pay, considering the benefits they have also.
OMG RG! We AGREE on something! Whoopie! Yahoo! I knew that at some point we might hit some common ground. It only took, what? 6 weeks? LOL

But I don't think the congressmen and women are paid enough. Give them more, and we get better people representing us.
Maybe we should pay gov people more and make them perform or they get replaced.
I say firefighters and certain other state employees need to have salaries changed also.
I agree. Firefighters and police need more money. I don't know about the congress. They work less, and they earn lifetime benefits that can't be beat. I think that they earn enough. But we do need better people. I think that is more a matter of the voters not bothering to get to know who they are voting for in the "minor" elections.

Interesting point, I had never thought of it that way before.
Do you see the responses you get from conservatives when you stop bashing them and start making valid points! Keep it up.

Wow, I have never seen logic work with you all before
BB, where art thou?
I can't splain to the Case what I am talking about apparently. Please help her out and splain to her what I am talking about, with regards to this series of posts.

"During the past two sessions, 447 emergency clauses were attached to legislation. Does anybody truly believe there were so many emergencies?," asked Bailey.
Emergency Clause:
The Washington state Constitution gives the Legislature the ability to act fast when the health or safety of state citizens is at risk. We do this by adding an "emergency clause" to the end of a proposed new law. This clause makes the measure effective immediately when signed by the governor -- thus denying citizens their constitutional right of referendum.
Barbra Bailey - Washington State Rep. (R)
