Nancy Pelosi's $2,300 of flowers vs. Halliburton's Billion

Nancy Pelosi apparently ordered $2,300 worth of flowers for some event at taxpayer expense and the Right-Wing Media is all up in arms over that.

Of course, during the Bush-Cheney years, Halliburton pocketed over a billion dollars at taxpayer expense, often involving serious malfeasance and improprieties by Halliburton and its subsidiaries. We don't hear much about Halliburton's wrongdoing on Right-Wing Talk Radio.

Naturally, the two are totally comparable -- Pelosi's $2,300 and Halliburton's billion dollars plus. After all, two wrongs don't make a right. There is surely a moral equivalence here.

What I'd like to know is why Right-Wing Media gives a billion dollars worth of coverage to Nancy Pelosi's $2,300 flower expenditure, and $2,300 worth of coverage to Halliburton's billion dollar heist.

CJP what you have wrong here is that it was actually $2993.00 for flowers and they were actually used in her office over the span of 2 mos.
You also fail to mention that her home state of California is broke. They have been giving IOU's to the citizens insead of tax refunds and paychecks.
Two wrongs don't make a right. Ms Pelosi is a VERY wealthy woman and I don't know of another profession where if you want flowers for your office, you just go ahead and charge it to the tax payers or to your "employer"
This isn't a left or right thing, CJP. This is just an example of the elitist politicians' and their "let them eat cake" attitude.
You will always be able to find something bad that someone does that will trump the bad of another. What it comes down to is that it is high time that we demand that this kind of behavior is no longer tolerated---by either party. I am suprised that you would choose to make this a right/left issue. Wrong is wrong. Period.

Excerpt from CJP's post"

"Of course, during the Bush-Cheney years, Halliburton pocketed over a billion dollars at taxpayer expense, often involving serious malfeasance and improprieties by Halliburton and its subsidiaries."

To better understand Casey:

He thinks it's not okay to order flowers of abt $3 thousand at taxpayer's expense and create hell about it, but Halliburton's (and Cheney's wrongdoings) receipt of 1 BILLION from the tax payers should be kept quiet?

Why no outcry about that from the CONS who count every penny of Lib spending and NONE of theirs?

Casey said...

Gee, Anon2, I think that I pointed out that this kind of thing should no longer be tolerated---no matter who does it. Not left or right; why is that difficult to understand?
Not any of it. Period. The zero tolerance has to start somewhere. I think right now, would be a good time to start. right now, when our budget is in tatters, the debt is out of control, and California is on the verge of financial collapse.
It is covered as well as Sanford's trip to South America to visit his girlfriend being charged to the tax payers. This crap has to be stopped, but as long as you have the attitude of, "oh yeah? What about Halliburton?" things will not change, and we will get exactly what we deserve.
The whole idea is to hold everyone accountable. What is difficult about that?

I haven't seen the Pelosi flower story anywhere. Must only be reported on Faux Hates Left Wing News.

If it was only on Fox News, RG, then I would start to worry about all of the other news that you aren't getting...

Casey, there used to be a concept called All The News That's Fit to Print.

Maybe every other news outlet decided, unlike Fox, that this "News" was Not Fit to Print.

Too petty?

Was it $3,000 in flowers? Sorry.

Now I know how to comment on this blog...GD Cons, Bush, Haliburton, Fox News, Cheney, and Sarah Palin!
Obama is great, healthcare for everyone, regardless of if we can afford it or not, the left is wonderful and can do no wrong--regardless of the facts. All of my truths come from the Huffington Post.
Logic is not relevant.
Better?

Comon demoninator? Hmm, they all have no footing in reality? Cept maybe Halliburton, who knows the money, although only paper, is real paper.

Casey, look at the top of CJPs home page, and see if there is a link to "Log In" or something similar.

"We report. You decide. Does President Bush owe his controversial win in 2000 to Fox cable television news?

Yes, suggest data collected by two economists who found that the growth of the Fox cable news network in the late 1990s may have significantly boosted the Republican Party's share of the vote in the 2000 election and delivered Florida to Bush."

Al gave us the Internet, and Al can take it away.

Bumbling w... Case sweetums, why are all your leaders seen as so shallow? W,Palin,Bahcmann,Beck,so many others? Doesn't that tell you anything?

Casey said...

That is your opinion.
Al Gore--the inventor of the internet! The savior of the planet!
The mega hypocrite! Have you checked out his private jet? His 20,000 square ft home that costs over $1,000/mo in electricity? His houseboat and jet skis (no power used there, right?)

Natural gas bills for Gore's mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year. "As the spokesman of choice ... Kalee Kreider, a spokesperson for the Gores, pointed out "the bottom line is that every family has a different carbon footprint".
Yeah, right...Ours should be skimpy, but his can be BIG!
He's Al Fking Gore, after all!

RayGun said...

CC, regarding Gore, you sound like my mother. That's the stupidest argument I have ever heard using Gore and his energy use as an example of ???

JFC, all your perspectives are really out of whack.

If you all can't see that Gore is ahead of his time then ... Have you read any of Gores books? I don't know how many he has written, but I have read one of them, and it was spot on.

I even wrote a piece for NYTimes, regarding Gore and his biblical beliefs, and which of course they ignored.

Casey said...

I don't know how many he has written, but I have read one of them, and it was spot on.---Rg

What are you basing your belief that he is "spot on" on? I assume that you don't believe that an enviromentalist that believes that the earth is doomed by global warming should pratice conservation himself? or is that just for us "little people"?
You believe that he was "spot on" because he belives what you believe...Try challenging yourself by reading something that has another point of view. You may hate it and disagree, but at least you would know what you were disagreeing with!

RayGun said...

Hey CC, Time had a great summation of the global warming emails today. Good stuff. But I thought you said Clinton was to have a big article in Time about his agreeing with w on invading Iraq, today, Monday. I dont see it.
