In a speech via videoconference to regional commanders around Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal said that the Afghan people would ultimately deliver the verdict about the success of the American troop buildup but that, after President Obama's call Tuesday for 30,000 additional troops, "we have a level of commitment that we've not had before and that will change everything."
Yes, General McChrystal said: "We have a level of commitment that we've not had before and that will change everything."
That statement pretty much sums up the ineptness of the Bush-Cheney administration in Afghanistan over the past eight years, and why that war has dragged on for so long.

As I'm against any wars, I do not approve of this one either although I can see that Obama was left with a Bush legacy and therefore has to finish what Dubya started.
I pity Obama because he's between a rock and a hard place due to the CONS. I believe that he has a good heart.
What a mess, a crime really, that Dubya and his cronies left behind! :(

And it's a crime that they haven't learned anything, as they want Palin to take over where w left off.
My whole philosophy of life is that It revolves mostly around pleasure and pain. The cons have received 0 pain for voting for w and so they see little folly in their ways. I think the cons need a tax to pay for what they did. Else they will never learn, as there was relatively little pain. All the cons got from w, was his spending ways, which we all know is an addiction, an addiction which provides pleasure. So they want to do w again.
The only reason the Cons experienced so little pain is that Obama took office a couple of months after the Bush Crash and he immediately began cleaning up the mess.
If Bush had remained in office for three additional years following the Bush Crash -- the way Hoover did from 1929 through 1932 -- then the Cons would be experiencing pain beyond their wildest nightmares. And, so would all the rest of us.
Bush got out of the way before our country reached the point of Bushvilles and Breadlines.

The only bad thing about w getting out of the way, is we will probably have to go through it again, before they learn.
Hey crazy cons, check this out:

Click through all the scenes. For whatever its worth, I agree with PETA, in that I think we are not that much different than animals.
Stolen from HP blogger:
"Looks to me the crucifix is hiding the holy trinity."
OMG! RayGun---don't start this religious rant again, or I will have to find you and send you for de-programing!
Case, are you offended by near naked women?
Whatever RG. I am personally not into naked women, myself, but ...
I just saw the words " holy trinity" and "crucifix" , and didn't want it to start again.
Did you see this link?

Again with blaming someone else!
So, you see, Ray Gun, religion can be used for a useful and beneficial purpose. Bravo to Joanna Knupas.
This girl is a veritable modern St. Mary Magdalen.
(Not to mention Lady Godiva).
Brandon, we're only blaming the people who deserve to be blamed -- Bush, Cheney and the Right-Wing clique. Obama's trying to clean up their mess. He needs a big broom and a shovel.

What mess? Hes continuing the war in Afgan and shutting down the war in Iraq. Why not blame the terrorists?

I think theres a little mockery going on in with the PETA folks.
Plus the Hollywood people are really on board with PETA.
Animals are not that much different than humans ...

Yes, why did Dubya and his cronies not go after the terrorists (Bin Laden etc) and catch them when they were an easy pick a few months after 9/11?
You should know enough about the stoooopidity of these cronies to create 2 wars in Afghanistan and Iraq under false pretenses. Cons are war machines and destroy everything in their paths and accomplish only riches for big business and assign soldiers as canon fodder.
AGAIN: THESE CON CRONIES SHOULD HAVE FETCHED THE TERRORISTS WHEN THEY WERE EASY PICKING IN 2001.
THEY DIDN'T WANT TO!!!!
Obama has no choice but to take Dubya's war on as his own due to DUBYA'A FAILING.
Come to think of it, WWII lasted 4 years for the Americans.
Afghan war so far 8 years.
THINK for a moment you cons.
WWII was fought to win. There is the difference.
Exactly right, Casey.
For 8 years, Bush and Cheney were Not fighting to Win in Afghanistan. They were totally focused on Iraq.
That's why they were called The Gang Who Couldn't Shoot Straight.
OMG! Any escalation is met with you libs getting your panties in a wad!
Cons and reality are like oil and water; neither mix together very well.
RG, your last comment was the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears, sticking your tounge out, and sayiing, Nah, nah, nah...
Nah, nah, nah...

Cons don't believe in reality. All they believe in is their alternate universe. How can you argue with them?

lol Planet Mars perhaps? "The planet is named after Mars, the Roman god of war." Wikipedia.
And of course the green stuff. No, not the conservationists!! The CONS are just the opposite, they destroy everything they get their hands on. But that's a whole other chapter.... erm.... books.
"lol Planet Mars perhaps?"

LOL. Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus

Try comparing the death tolls and the Germans were alot easier to find, they wore uniforms.
And they didn't have Code Pink and the rest whinning about the terrible war and killing people and stuff :(

Death tolls were lower because there were only few troops there compared to Iraq. They'll go up allright on both sides by sending more troops to Afghan. :(
The matter about the terrorists not wearing uniforms? That's the point I've been writing about on this blog. Russia's over 100 thousand troops there couldn't win. Why do you think that was and why would the USA think that this time they can win with about the same troops as Russia had in Afghan? Nope, the terrorists are still not in uniform and they never will be.
Vietnam was the same, only uniforms for the French and later the USA.
I agree with A2, its a losing battle. We need to try something else.
"The United States has spent nearly $60 billion on Afghanistan this year, and Mr. Obama’s troop increases would add at least $30 billion. Adding 30,000 Afghan Army soldiers at triple their current pay costs under $1 billion."
1 billion per month, 12 billion per year?

Sounds good to me. Good and cheap.
Plus lots of schools. 50 schools for 1 million.
