Real Conservatives Are Abandoning The Far Right

From: The Huffington Post - December 1, 2009:

Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs, a conservative-leaning political blog, officially announced his break with the right in a post on Monday evening. Johnson is co-founder of Pajamas Media, and Little Green Footballs has been named one of the top 100 most popular blogs.

Succinctly titled "Why I Parted Ways With The Right," Johnson's post argues against the fanaticism of politicians like Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Pat Buchanan as well as the conservative blogosphere ("Hatred for President Obama that goes far beyond simply criticizing his policies, into racism, hate speech, and bizarre conspiracy theories (see: witch doctor pictures, tea parties, Birthers, Michelle Malkin, Fox News, World Net Daily, Newsmax, and every other right wing source)"). He also cites the "anti-Islamic bigotry that goes far beyond simply criticizing radical Islam, into support for fascism, violence, and genocide." He concludes:

"The American right wing has gone off the rails, into the bushes, and off the cliff. I won't be going over the cliff with them."

This shows the trend of what's really happening. True Conservatives and Independents have been repelled by the Far Right.

Bernanke needs to go

The top Republican on the banking committee, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) refused to say how he planned to vote, though he did say that the Fed has "utterly failed" in its regulatory role.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) was less tight-lipped. "I absolutely will not vote for Mr. Bernanke," the Vermont senator said on ABC's "This Week." "He's part of the problem. If he's the smartest guy in the world, why didn't he do anything to prevent us from sinking into this disaster that Wall Street caused and which he was a part of? No, I will not vote for Bernanke to stay on as chairman."

I think the cons need to have a special surtax applied to their taxes to pay for this mess, since it was basically their fault, because they failed to regulate like any sensible person could see was necessary.

Charles Johnson used his "common sense" when he abandoned the CONS.

Why? Simply, he woke up.....

Hey A2, is Obamas speech tonight widely broadcast in Canada?

Anon2 said...

Of course RayGun, I will watch it live at 8 PM.

Remember I watch/listen to CNN every day. lol

Too bad that some info was already released and of course McCain had to comment on the July 2011 date. ;)

Typical CONS.... commenting on a speech that hasn't been spoken yet. LOL

Will Canadian channels broadcast it live?

Maybe if I listen to another five minutes I will hear the classic "blame Bush"

Yes, thanks cons for voting w in to office so he could ignore the shinagens on Wall Street that caused the near financial collapse.

And did you all hear him say the commanders did not even request any new troops until 2010? Looks like the cons were lying again with regards to Obama ignoring his commanders etc.

But I don't really blame w, I blame the voters who put him there. w did exactly what he said he would do, to disastrous affect, and now the same idiots want Palin in there to do the same thing all over again. They don't learn.

Anyone with a brain can figure out that one man couldnt be responsible for destroying this country. Its a joint effort and the liberals are just looking for a scap goat instead of growing some balls and owning their mistakes!

BB, lax regulation is a corner stone of the con bible. Just like helping the poor is the corner stone of the real bible. Lax regulation is what caused the financial meltdown. The unregulated derivatives, CDO's, Credit Default Swaps, are what caused the problems. The unfettered exuberance of your idols are to blame. Those smart masters of the universe. Oh dear lord, we owe them so much.

I think that he had the plan ahead of time since he is on that committee. Armed Services (where he is the ranking member)Dahh!

For the last time. The de-regulation was started under Clinton, and EXPANDED under Bush. BOTH PARTIES HAD A HAND IN THIS. NO PARTY WAS FAULTLESS. THERE IS ENOUGH BLAME TO GO AROUND.

Wasn't Bush the only commander in chief of the army when he created 2 wars that did cost at least 800 billion when he left office?

Wasn't he the only one who signed the bills that came to his desk prior to becoming law? Like tax cuts for the ultra rich? Signing a bill so that Medicare (government) cannot bargain with Pharma for cheaper drug prices.

He signed them ALL!!

The last info is according to what I just read today somewhere on the web. The website is posted somewhere here on this blog.

Where is your peabrain?

McCain is just not the gentleman he pretends to be by commenting on the president's speech prior to delivery of that speech. So much for respect for HIS president.....

Here is the website and excerpt of the article I posted today.

For you:

"If she wants her stupid flowers"

Anon2 said... Can't compare her stupid flowers with the spending that Dubya did with creating 2 unnecessary wars.

http://www.independent.org/newsroom/news_detail.asp?newsID=31

Excerpt:
Since 2001, even with record low inflation, U.S. federal spending has increased by a massive 28.8% (19.7% in real dollars)—with non-defense discretionary growth of 35.7% (25.3% in real dollars)—the highest rate of federal government growth since the presidencies of Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson. This increase has resulted in the largest budget deficits in U.S. history, an estimated $520 billion in fiscal year 2004 alone. Furthermore, the projected spending for 2005 is a conservative estimate, since it doesn’t include at least $50 billion for the 2005 cost of the Iraq occupation.

As predicted by Independent Institute Senior Fellow Robert Higgs, author of such key books as Crisis and Leviathan and the new Against Leviathan, this explosion of government power would only have been possible in the aftermath of 9/11. Times of crisis present the easiest opportunities for politicians to take advantage of a frightened American public.

President George W. Bush is now on his way to becoming the first full-term president since John Quincy Adams (1825-1829) to not veto a single bill. The result is a congress that has been completely unconstrained in satiating its appetite for pork and corporate welfare."

See the website for the stats & percentages of all presidents since LBJ.

Pelosi's flowers are peanuts compared to the above eh? lol

See BRANDON?

We all knew how many troops were being sent. It was all over every news outlet all day today.
In case you didn't notice it was John McCain that said that we should support the President on his decision. Anon2 you just don't like McCain because he divorced his first wife. You may not know this but, Sen John Kerry divorced HIS first wife and married the uber rich Heinz heiress. Does that make him bad? Or does he get a pass at this because he is a big fat liberal? Oh, sorry. I forgot. Liberals all get passes.

Casey said...

And guess what? Obama has spent more money in 12 months than any president in history!

Didn't your parents ever teach you that "2 wrongs don't make a right"?

Casey said...

Anon2 said... Can't compare her stupid flowers with the spending that Dubya did with creating 2 unnecessary wars.

But you know what Anon2. Look at it this way. I am knocking myself out, night and day trying to get companies to donate personal hygiene items (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc) for the needy in our communty. People barely have money for food, let alone toothbrushes and the like. When I see a rich public servant spending $3000 dollars on flowers for her office and charging it to the tax payers, in a state that is currently so broke that they are giving IOU's to citizens of the state---I get a bit pissed off. You claim to care about people, think about it. That $3,000.00 would buy alot of soap and toothpaste for the needy. Doesn't that bother you --- just a bit?

Anon2 said...

Ah Casey,

You ignored my previous post. lol

But then, I had a gut feeling that that would happen.

Casey said...

Anon2: Your previous post excused her flower expenditure. I believe you called it peanuts in comparison to what "W" spent. Am I wrong? Did I miss something? Because I am trying really hard here to put this into perspective while explaining why it upsets me.
If you have spent any time at all working with the needy, and seeing what basic needs aren't being met, it really should outrage you on some level. To give her a pass at this is rediculous during a time when her very own state is on the verge of financial collapse.

Like I said before you are only looking for a scape goat! Doesnt a bill first go thru congress??? Doesnt congress have as much or more power than the president?

Whats wrong with tax cuts for the rich, they are the ones paying almost all the taxes!

Liberals only think that more money will solve the needies problems! They only want to raise taxes to help the poor while they sit on their butts and watch someone freeze to death outside their window!

Lets not forget about their stupid ideas of raising min wage to help the poor! I think Raygun said he wanted $20.00/hr for min wage.

JFC BB, I may of said 10 per hour. For sure to begin with.

Funny though, Costco, one of my favorite stores (the last time I read) pays their employees on average 18 per hour. Not bad for the work they are doing.

Yes, I see this. Funny thing is, I can't get 1 single one of these libs to agree that $3,000 for flowers for 2 mos is excessive. You and I both know that if this was a Republican that spent this, they would be screaming their asses off about it. Since it is a liberal, (with a "let them eat cake" attitude; Madame Pelosi our modern day Marie Antoinette) they give her a pass. Unbelievable! Such Hypocrisy!

Casey, $3,000 for flowers for Nancy Pelosi is chump change.

The sad thing is that the Right-Wing Propaganda Media can get you to focus so much of your thoughts and energy on Nancy Pelosi's $3,000
flower expenditure while they are stealing billions from the public around the clock. Why don't you ask your Right-Wing Media to focus on some of the billions that Halliburton has pocketed at the expense of the taxpayers?

Of course, they would rather have you focus on Nancy Pelosi's $3,000 worth of flowers.

Can't you see that they are leading you by the nose away from the real malfeasance happening in this country -- away from the crimes that make a real difference in our existence and our future?

RayGun said...

This is a rediculous argument. Didn't anyone ever teach you that 2wrongs don't make a right? Look at it another way, if you will:
You can steal a book, or you can steal an expensive pair of shoes. One act of theft is not less bad than the other act of theft. Stealing is stealing.
I really shouldn't have to illustrate this issue for you. Being "big hearted" liberals, who know all, and want to be the social justice levelers of the world, you should know this.
Be honest, if not with me, with yourselves. You give her a pass, simply because she is a liberal hero.

The Con girls all seem to have the same traits. Dolled up, sharp beaks and lack of civility in conversations. That's what I see over and over again.

They're there just to please their con men and to reproduce. That means they're just a blob of meat to the cons and to be used at their convenience. *throwing up*

Casey said...

Another rediculous statement RG. I suppose CNN, MSNBC, and others all have a policy of hiring UGLY newscasters? Maybe we are just naturally better looking than you guys.
I do tend to remember my college days when the left wing girls didn't shave, bathe, wear make-up and had those lovely dreds.

RayGun said...

Maybe. I still stick to my theory, generally, extra pretty people get through life without having to think too hard. Not thinking to hard is certainly a con trait.

RayGun said...

But on second thought, most of Hollywood are libs. And they tend to be smart because that life is often brutal. Hmm, so generally cons are dumber and generally not as pretty? Sounds right to me.

For some reason the Cons hate the word "social". They think that it's the same word as "socialism" or "communism" which is untrue. Guess that their distaste is due to lingering McCarthyism.
