Republicans Are A Big Tent of Racism
I didn't say that all Republicans are racist. There certainly are a few exceptions. I said the Republican Party is a Big Tent -- big enough to hold all racists. When American racists are looking for a political home today, the Republican Party is there to embrace them. Welcome Home, they say. Comfortablize yourselves.
Bush Was Grossly Inattentive to Al Quaida and Bin Laden
No offers were ever made by the government of Sudan to Bill Clinton to turn over Bin Laden to the USA. That's just one more myth in the galaxy of Conservative fabrications. Read Richard Clarke's book. Clarke was America's National Security Advisor under both Bushes and Clinton, and he knows a hell of a lot more about what happened than prattling Right-wing "Pundits" do.
Clinton was totally focused on Al Quaida and Bin Laden. He never had a real chance to capture or kill Bin Laden.
It was Bush who took his eye off the ball. Bush was totally obsessed with Saddam Hussein. He didn't even want to meet with Clarke or talk to him about Al Quaida and Bin Laden. That's why I blame Bush for allowing 9-11 to happen. Bush was guilty of gross negligence, lack of interest, and lack of attention. Now, finally, Obama has re-focused our efforts on Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the real terrorists are headquartered.
How can Republicans be so damn dumb?

When Pigs Fly
Most Americans -- whether liberal or conservative -- thought that a black man would only become president When Pigs Fly. Apparently, most Americans were correct -- thank you, Swine Flew.
Specter the Defector
Being a Defector used to be a good thing, during the Cold War, whenever a person defected from the Evil Empire of Communism to the West. It's still a good thing now that Arlen Specter has defected from the Evil Empire of Republicans to that shining beacon of light called the Democrats -- especially since his new party is far closer to Specter's principles than his Grand Old Party is anymore.
No Thanks to the G NO P
You can thank Obama for the USA avoiding a Depression, certainly not Bush or the Republican Party of NO ---- the G NO P.
Things Are Looking Up
"A month ago, people were still worried about the next Great Depression," said Bruce McCain, chief investment strategist at Key Private Bank in Cleveland, on April 29, 2009. "Now there's a much more positive tone in society at large and in investors' minds."

Glenn Beck is Today's Paul Lynde
Glenn Beck is Hilarious. Watching Glenn Beck is like watching Paul Lynde in "Bye Bye, Birdie", singing "Kids -- What the Heck's the Matter with Kids Today?" -- and crying all the way through the song. Glenn Beck must have learned how to turn on the tears by watching Paul Lynde. The two Village Criers sound so much alike. Glenn Beck now has the second highest rated show on Fox News. People love to watch a grown man cry. Alice In Wonderland almost drowned in her tears. Glenn Beck is luxuriating in his. "By A Waterfall" should be Beck's theme song.
Republicans Are "True Patriots"
Conservatives are "True Patriots". They believe in torture. They don't believe the USA can gather worthwhile military intelligence without torture. They are racists. They are anti-black, anti-Mexican, anti-immigrant. They believe the world-wide Swine Flu epidemic should be labeled the "Mexican Flu". They believe illegal Mexican immigrants brought the Swine Flu into the USA, not wealthy American whites who were vacationing in Mexico. They are so patriotic they firmly believe in not paying taxes. So, they organize nationwide Tea Parties to protest against the payment of taxes. And, Rush Limbaugh, the GOP's perennial Pooh Bah, moves out of New York to avoid paying his state income taxes. Years ago, James Bond had a villainous adversary named "Doctor No." Today, the GOP has become the Doctor No Political Party.
Nancy Reagan used to advise teen-agers who were offered drugs to "Just Say No!" Today, Republicans are running their party in Congress in accordance with Nancy's advice. To most Americans, these Republicans certainly seem like teen-agers -- retarded ones, at that.

A Switch In Time Saves Nine
If Arlen Specter had remained a Republican, he would have been defeated easily by Conservative Pat Toomey in a Republican primary in 2010. However, by switching parties and becoming a Democrat, Arlen Specter will be re-elected overwhelmingly in the general election of 2010, with the support of Democrats, Independents and a great many disaffected Republicans. What does this tell us about who and what is still left in the Republican Party? The GOP base is rapidly shrinking and melting like the Grand Old Wicked Witch of the West.
William Kristol Says It's Good News For The GOP that Senator Specter Switched to the Democrats
Billy Kristol is Right. Arlen Specter's switching parties is wonderful news for Republicans. The only better news for the GOP would be if Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins also became Democrats. Not to mention John McCain and his daughter, Megan, as the current Republican Chairman, Rush Limbaugh, has been urging. After those additional defections, Billy Kristol and his fellow Conservatives should be dancing in the steeets. These days, the Republican Party is just marching from one triumph to another.
Yes, Obama's Policies Are Working
GM is terminating its Pontiac division. But the rest of the company will survive.
AIG came at the tail end of the Bush administration. Since then, bailed-out companies have been surviving. The three major banks -- Citigroup, Bank of America, Chase -- are now running in the black.
Obama is lowering tax rates on most Americans. No one is in a 70% tax bracket. In fact, the wealthiest Americans have so many tax dodges and off-shore shelters that they now enjoy the lowest tax rates of all. Warren Buffet says that his tax rate is lower than his secretary's.

Obama Is Succeeding Like Gangbusters
Obama's programs are working like gangbusters. The stock market is no longer tanking. It's starting to go up. Consumer confidence just jumped to its highest level in six months. People are abandoning the Republican Party in droves, just as they did in the 1930's after the last Republican Depression. In 100 Days, Obama has started turning the economy around and the USA is on its way up again. Don't worry about the current deficits. They are temporary. A healthy economy will turn these deficits into surpluses pretty quickly. A dead economy would have brought the whole country down to irreversible ruin. But don't despair. We still have Rush Limbaugh out there, rooting for Obama and America to fail.
Arlen Specter Switches from R to D
The adults are Bailing Out. Only the Rats (Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Savage, Malkin, Coulter, etc.) are going down with the sinking ship. The once mighty Republican Party has now morphed into the Titanic.

The Flying Lying Swine Flew
Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Fred Thompson have all said that the Obama administration is placing a heavy focus on the Swine Flu epidemic in order to politicize the problem. It's funny how those three Swine Flew right into the fray, never at a loss to invent negative smears and slanders about President Obama and his government.
For those of you who never knew that Swine Flew -- just listen any day to the Lying Flying Swine of Right-Wing Media. Limbaugh, Beck, Thompson -- are they three Flying Swine or three Flying Monkeys -- Hear All Evil, See All Evil, Speak All Evil.
They clearly preferred the "out to lunch", "asleep at the switch" Bush administration where a catastrophic flood like Katrina could come along, and be ignored for days by the federal government. The Bush administration -- the Great Non-Responders. "Good Job, Brownie." That's the kind of response the Flying Swine of Right-Wing media prefer -- the "Good Job, Brownie" response. They hate a government like the current one that is really on top of things and is conscientiously trying to do a good job for the people. That's just not the American way. Ask Rush.

The Tea Parties are Really Rent Parties for Limbaugh
Rush Limbaugh said he is leaving New York because they are taxing him too much.
Rush is a True Patriot. Those Tax Tea Parties were held purely for Rush's benefit. He should have been hosting them all. The Tea Parties should have been called "Rent Parties --for Rush Limbaugh."

The "Conscience" of a Conservative
Conservatives say they believe: "Everyone should work hard and be taxed equally."
Does this mean that Conservatives believe in an "equal" flat 10% income tax for everyone, regardless of income -- and no estate taxes on anyone?
What a huge disproportionate redistribution of wealth to the richest Americans such a tax system would create.
We had that in the 19th century, and I don't think anyone (except Rush Limbaugh) wants to see us return to that kind of Gilded Age/Robber Baron/Mass Destitution economy.

Jim Tedisco (R-NY) vs. Norm Coleman (R-MN)
Jim Tedisco is a gentleman and a real American who operates under traditional American principles of common sense and fair play.

Tea Party Participants Are Being Misled
If people earning $30,000 a year are joining the Tea Parties, then they are on the wrong side of the issue.
Obama's programs will help people in lower income brackets whereas Republican policies will hurt them. Lower income people will pay more and get less under Republicans than under Obama. That's why Obama's approval rating nation-wide is triple what Bush's was at the end. Most people understand who is on their side and who isn't.

Coleman's Appeal To Stretch At Least Into June
Norm Coleman is taking down himself and Governor Jim Pawlenty. By the time Coleman is through with all his appeals, the Republican Party will be as popular in Minnesota as it now is in the Northeast. Republicans seem to be doing everything they can to make their party extinct. Of course, once Al Franken finally takes his seat in the Senate, probably months from now, he will be greeted by his fellow Democrats as a Conquering Hero and as the New Star of the current Senate.

Rush is The Voice of the Klan
Recently, Rush Limbaugh declared that Barack Obama had gone to church to pray because he was so worried about giving the order to kill "three black Muslim teen-agers" -- the Somali pirates who were holding the American captain hostage on a small boat. For this comment, Rush was excoriated by Shane Murphy, the American who was second-in-command on that hijacked ship. But Shane, You Must Remember This:
The Ku Klux Klan needs to have some radio outlets in America, and Rush Limbaugh today is indeed the Voice of the Klan. Rush never misses an opportunity to voice a racist, anti-black comment. As Ronald Reagan would say: "Rush -- There You Go Again".

Obama Is Doing The Right Thing
Obama is spendng trillions of dollars to re-vitalize the economy, get
banks lending again, re-build and modernize our infra-structure, and
expand health care and put it on a sound financial footing. The
result of Obama's spending programs will be to make the USA
a stronger, healthier country with more people than ever before sharing
in our national prosperity. Obama may be spending a lot of money but
he's putting the money where it needs to be right now.
Once the economy is prospering again, it will not be that difficult to
re-pay all the taxpayer loans and thereafter run the country with
annual budget surpluses. We had annual budget surpluses under Clinton so we know that it can be done. Broadening the middle class and strengthening the finances of the average consumer will help make us a more vibrant and prosperous nation.

The Ass is Kicking Ass
The Ass is Kicking Ass Big Time.
A few days ago, Democrat Scott Murphy won a House seat in upstate New York in a Congressional district which had been staunchly Republican until recently. That adds one more vote to Nancy Pelosi's Democratic majority in the House. It sounds like The Donkey Serenade.
Thanks to Barack Obama, your Elephant now has a bloody nose, and its trunk and its tail are between its legs.
By all means, go ahead and ---- LOL.

Cherry-Picking The Cherry Tree
When George Washington was a lad, he famously said: "I Cannot Tell a Lie. I was the one who chopped down the cherry tree."
That was nearly 300 years ago. Times have changed. And, look how low we have sunk.
Today, 300 years later, one of George Washington's most recent successors -- Vice-President Dick Cheney -- is spending a lot of time cherry-picking the cherry tree.
Right now, Cheney is trying to cherry-pick the torture memos of the CIA and the Gitmo guards to try to find examples of how and when American torture of prisoners produced any information that helped avert new terrorist attacks. However, in the immortal words of Al Jolson: "We Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet."
This is the same Dick Cheney who cherry-picked intelligence reports on Iraq in 2002 to "determine" that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction before we launched our "preemptive invasion" of Iraq. He rejected and suppressed reports showing that Saddam had no such WMD's.
This is the same Dick Cheney who sent out his assistant and henchman Scooter Libby to disclose the identity of an undercover CIA agent, Valerie Plame. Had a Liberal done anything like that, Conservative media flacks would have been screaming "Treason". However, since Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby committed the deed, Conservatives consider that to be "patriotism". Conservatives have a warped idea of what it means to be a patriotic American. Conservatives apparently cherry-pick their patriotism, too.

The Elephant Should Be a Dinosaur
Conservatives are America's Disaster. Eight years of Conservative policies under Bush have wrecked America, both domestically and overseas. Obama -- whether you call him Barack or Barry -- whether he was born in Kenya or Bora Bora -- whether he is known as the Messiah, The One, or a Socialist-Communist-Fascist-New Dealer -- has policies that are so far superior to Conservative mealy-mouthed, brain-dead platitudes -- that he now represents America's Best Hope for survival. That's why Obama's current Disapproval Rating is around 20% -- the same as Bush's 20% Approval Rating when he left office.
Republicans are like the pre-historic beasts that drowned in the Biblical flood when Noah's Ark set out to sea without them. I don't know why the symbol of the Republican Party is the Elephant. It should be the Dinosaur -- something Extinct.

Conservatives Are a Shrinking Minority
You're welcome to post any comment you want on my web-site. All comments are welcome here, and so is good honest debate.
I happen to think Obama has been a great president so far, and he's likely to get even better if he sticks to the principles he believes in and doesn't get thrown off-track by Conservative opposition or rhetoric.
Conservatives claim that Obama has polarized the country. That's because, in current polling, Obama has a disapproval rating of 20%, and a favorable or satisfactory rating by the other 80% of Americans.
Those numbers are just about the exact reverse of Bush's numbers when he left office.
You can debate all you want, my Conservative friend, but most Americans disagree with you.

Conservatives Recognize That Obama Is The Messiah
I'm glad so many Conservatives realize that Obama is The Messiah and also is The One. As Conservatives know, from their vast study of history, a Messiah only comes along immediately following the darkest and most horrible of times.
For example, Moses appeared as a Messiah to lead the Children of Israel out of slavery and bondage in Egypt. The Messiah Moses told the wicked Egyptian Pharaoh: "Let My People Go."
Jesus arose when the Children of Israel were once again at a low ebb, under the occupation of the Roman Empire, which fed some martyrs to the lions and crucified others.
Thus, Conservatives' current realization that Obama is America's Messiah today shows that they are keenly aware of how terribly George Bush and the Republicans have ruined this country with their "Conservative" policies over the past eight years. If America ever needed a Messiah, we need one now. And, aren't we lucky that we now have one? I congratulate Conservatives on their rare insight in recognizing Obama as the New Messiah and the evils of the past eight years that he has come to rectify.

A Thoughtful Republican Speaks Out
weaaa commented on Tea Parties, Homeland Security and Silencing the Opposition - Big Hollywood:
I am a republican and I have to say right now the people in my party who are in the spotlight sound like a bunch of hateful racists. what happened to Christian values we are suppose to spread -- love not hate -- and instead of thinking of different ways to dismantle our government and leaders, we are supposed to pray for our leaders. or is that a bunch of lip service also?
You are so right, weaaa. That's why the current Republican leaders
and media flacks are thoroughly disgusting the American people and
completely marginalizing their party. It's nice to hear that
thoughtful Republicans like you are also revolted by what your party
leaders have been doing and saying ever since Obama took office. It's
like watching a major political party commit suicide in broad
daylight.

Judeo-Christian Values
Yes, I do believe in Judeo-Christian values. However, clearly, there may be disagreements about what some of those values are.
The real reason we have Freedom of Religion enshrined in our Constitution and Bill of Rights is that, during Colonial times, there were so many sharp battles and disagreements among the various Christian sects which had settled here in America about the different meanings and practices of Christianity. There were strong religious and political differences among Baptists, Quakers, Methodists, Episcopalians, Evangelicals, Catholics, etc. -- all of them professing to be Christians and believing in the same God.
They would disagree about matters such as trans-substantiation, con-substantion, the meaning of the wafer, whether or not there should be singing and dancing during the service, how loud or soft should the sermon be, how many angels can fit on the head of a pin, how many camels can pass through the eye of a needle, etc.
Those differences continue today, although pertaining to different matters. Jesus, for example, never said anything against Gay Marriage. His was a Gospel of Love, and that Love extended to All God's Children, without exception. Many Christians believe that, if Jesus were alive today, he would favor treating Gays exactly the same as everyone else, including the right to marry.
As for abortion, millions of Christians believe that a woman should have the right to choose whether or not she wants to have a child. She should not be forced by someone else's "morality" to give birth to an unwanted child. She should have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy with the assistance of her personal physician. Those are Christian values, too.
The same for stem cell research. There is strong disagreement among Christians as to when human life actually begins. Obama said that question was "above my pay scale". That was the correct answer, since there is so much disagreement among people of good will on when human life begins.
Many Christians favor research on embryonic stem cells, since virtually none of these stem cells would be born and become children anyway, and important medical and scientific knowledge could be gained from this research that would benefit the living and the sick.
It is generally agreed that Ronald Reagan was a Christian Conservative, yet leading members of his family are very strong proponents of stem cell research. So, Obama and the Reagans agree on stem cell research.
As for Obama's spending, we'll have to wait a little longer to see the results. For the moment, the economy seems to be doing better than it was a few months ago, before Obama began these spending programs. Let us hope that things keep on improving.

Christians Are America's Real Terrorists
At last, we finally know who America's Real Terrorists are. They are Christians. It's about time we discovered that. Think of all the time we've wasted chasing after Muslims.
Mussolini Hannity
Actor Charles Grodin has called Sean Hannity "A Fascist" to his face -- on Hannity's Fox News show the other night. It makes sense to me. I always thought that Sean Hannity looks and sounds a lot like Benito Mussolini. Hannity has every Mussolini mannerism except the Fascist Salute. (Who is this Roberto Mussolini the Republican "intellectuals" like to talk about?)
I guess we should start calling Hannity "Il Duce". Although, in Sean's case, it might very well be "Il Douche".

A Plague of Media Locusts
Today's Conservatives remind me of Winston Churchill. They have nothing to offer the American people except Blood, Sweat, Toil and Tears. The difference is that, in Churchill's case, there was a light at the end of the tunnel -- the ultimate goal of Victory at War. However, as for today's Republicans, they really do have nothing else left to offer the American people except Blood, Sweat, Toil and Tears. (And Boils?)
The only thing that remains of the Republican Party outside of Dixie is a pack of unchained media attack dogs, barking and snarling over the airwaves at our new president every day, hurling any lie and distorted concoction that creeps into their demented, diseased brain cells -- round-the-clock 24-7.
They call President Obama "The One" and "The Messiah". If Obama is indeed The Messiah, then he was sent by The Lord to deliver our country from this current Plague of Buzzing Right-Wing Media Locusts which are devouring our crops and are leaving nothing left growing in the land.
These Rabid Far Right Media Locusts are America's Enemy Within. For the past eight years, they have done everything possible to destroy this country, and now they are trying to smear and defame anyone who has a chance of salvaging the wreckage.
Of course, these Locusts are Against the Fairness Doctrine. They are the Embodiment of the Unfairness Doctrine, which is their Number One Article of Faith.

They will be known to history as The Mad Hatter Tea Parties of 2009 -- complete with a Dormouse, a March Hare, and a Newt.
House Republicans Demand Napolitano Resign Over Homeland Security's Warning About Potential Right-Wing Extremist Terrorists
Those House Republicans should resign since they are in firm denial over a potential major security threat to our country and are endangering the nation by keeping their ostrich heads in the sand. I'll stick with Janet Napolitano who has her head on straight and is clear-sighted when it comes to protecting our citizens from radical Right-Wing terrorist extremists like Timothy McVeigh clones.

Obama Has Not Ordered The Prosecution of Any American Interrogators
No one has given any order to prosecute any American interrogators. Where did you pick up that bit of fiction? Which Right-Wing Pundit has bloviated this piece of misinformation into the ether, and how did that fairy tale lodge itself into your brain? Are you the guy who bought the Brooklyn Bridge?
Also, how do you know that these methods produced any worthwhile information? Most experts say that these rough methods were counter-productive, and that much better intelligence was produced by using much more intelligent interrogation techniques.

Rush Limbaugh Is a Pig In Manure
Rush is like a pig in manure. He's having the time of his life, and earning lots of money, too. It's very profitable for him to destroy this country.
Those Somali pirates are earning chump change, and they're doing a lot less damage to the USA than Rush is.

Saddling Our Children with $20 Trillion of Debt? It'll Never Happen
I don't think we have to worry about saddling our children with $20 trillion of debt.
Most of the bailout money will be repaid initially by the people who borrowed it.
Then, once the economy recovers its health and starts running at a surplus (which will occur during Obama's first term), a lot more of the bailout money will be repaid. During Obama's second term, most of the balance will be repaid.
Any debt balance still remaining at the end of Obama's second term will be fully repaid by the time Joe Biden finishes his second term as president.

Rush Rouses The Rabble
Today, Rush Limbaugh mockingly gloated that Barack Obama is "the most popular person in America -- nay, the most popular person in the world." Would that be considered High Praise coming from Rush Limbaugh -- who is without a doubt the Most Unpopular Person in America? Rush Limbaugh is "America's Leading Rabble-Rouser". That's someone who Rouses the Rabble. Rousing the Rabble is the one thing Rush does so very well.

Response to Conservative Anti-Obama Arguments
Obama is not bashing the United Sates as "ignorant". He is trying to approach the rest of the world with more humility and diplomacy than Bush did, and he may achieve some good results this way. Bad guys can be turned around, as Quaddafi of Libya has been. Obama's approach may neutralize some of our other enemies, too. He's trying a different approach, and we'll have to wait and see it he has any success with it. It's the Teddy Roosevelt approach -- Carry a Big Stick But Speak Softly. It worked for Teddy, and it may work for Barack, too.
He won't be taking your guns away. That's a Nightmare Scenario thought up by Right-Wing Talk Show hosts to inflame their listeners. Although, hopefully, Obama will help state and local governments institute stronger gun control laws. There have been too many gun murders lately -- they've gone through the roof.
Universal Health Care would be a wonderful thing. Most modern countries have it. The health care we provide for so many of our citizens lags way behind Canada and most of Europe. There's no reason for the USA to be second-class in anything, especially health care.
I wouldn't say that Obama has no clue as to how to fix the economy. He has consulted many outstanding economists, and he is following their advice. Since his programs are just starting to go into effect, it's too early to know how effective they will be. But it makes sense to me that pouring lots of money into the economy now will help the economy get moving again and, when there is a recovery, these bail-out dollars can be repaid to the government. Putting people back to work right now, and solving the current foreclosure crisis are key parts of his program. I think Obama is doing what needs to be done, and that his economic policies will work.

A Great President Confronts the Buzzards
In his First 100 Days, Obama has shown that he has the potential of being one of America's Greatest Presidents of all-time. Sadly, he is up against a Right-Wing Media Attack machine, and some of the stupidest creatures to survive Noah's Flood and the Tower of Babel. Hopefully, Obama will not be stopped by the Limbaugh Dumbos, the Hannity Insanities, the Beck Shrecks, the Savage Savages, the Malkin Malcontents, the Typhoid Annie Coulters, or any of the other Right-Winged Buzzards. Barack will overcome them all. For eight years, these looney-tunes cheered on Dubya Bush as he led our country to the brink of national disaster. Now, they mockingly call Obama "The Messiah". After eight years of their deranged Right-Wing policies implemented by Bush, this country can really use a "Messiah." Let's hope and pray that Obama is truly "The One."
Bush Justice Department "Legal Memos" Obscured Harsh Interrogation Reality
It's good that we are rid of the "End Justifies the Means" Bush Administration, and we now have a government which believes in the Rule of Law and Morality. The harsh techniques used under Bush did not create reliable intelligence results, and they weakened our moral standing in the world. We alienated our allies, reduced our military strength, and produced no strategic benefits. America sold its soul, and inherited the wind.

Fox News Credits Tea Parties for Current Bull Market
Fox News blames the Bear Market on Obama, and credits the Tea Parties for the current Bull Market. FOX is Right! The Tea Parties were loaded and larded with Bull. But not nearly as much Bull as FOX News. Fox News has become an Animal Network ---- Full of FOX and Full of BULL. Fox News is definitely a Zoo.
Obama is America's New Teddy Roosevelt
Obama is very much like Teddy Roosevelt. He Talks Softly and Carries a Big Stick. Yes, Obama travels around the world to engage in personal diplomacy. Yes, he is willing to talk to America's enemies. But he did order the killing of three pirates in order to free the American ship's captain. He did send about 20,000 new American troops to Afghanistan to go after Bin Laden and Al Quaida. He has agreed with the president of Mexico to help wipe out the murderous Mexican drug cartels. Obama is neither an appeaser nor a pacifist. Israel has always negotiated with its enemies. As Israeli leaders have said: "We don't need to negotiate with our friends. Also, unfortunately, our next door neighbors are not Canadians." If Israel can negotiate with its enemies, why shouldn't the USA? As Teddy Roosevelt knew, there are two ways for a nation to achieve its goals -- through the carrot and through the stick. Obama is well aware of those two methods, and he knows how to use them both.
My Money Is Riding On Obama
Maybe we raised enough money through tariffs in Colonial times. But clearly, as the state and federal governments grew, and performed more functions for the general welfare, income taxes became necessary to fund the functions of government. It then became a political decision as to how these taxes should be apportioned among the population. A hundred years later, when there became a huge concentration of wealth among very few people, income taxes and estate taxes were instituted to fund government and to redress the balance of wealth.
You say that Obama's programs will bankrupt the country. It Ain't Necessarily So. His programs are barely starting to take effect and there already are signs -- such as a rising stock market, and favorable bank profit reports -- showing that a recovery is beginning. The economy was in such terrible shape when Bush left office -- the worst it's been since Hoover left office -- that this recovery may take some time. But remember, after the Crash of 1929, we still had three and a half more years of Hoover, and things were at their worst three and a half years after the 1929 Crash, when Hoover finally left office. Fortunately, this time, Bush was gone a couple of months after Crash of 2008, giving Obama time to take office and start us on the road to a much speedier recovery.
You think Obama's policies will make things worse. I disagree. I believe his Stimulus and Spending programs will make our economy stronger and better than ever. As of today, neither one of us can say who's right. The results aren't in yet. But why don't we have this discussion again a year from now -- let's say, May 1, 2010 -- and we'll see where things stand then. By that time, we should know which one of us is correct.
My money is riding on Obama. (So is the money of the rest of the country, too).

The Disloyal Opposition
After this week's Tea Parties, and their strong defense of Right-Wing Extremist groups, and their refusal to end the Minnesota Senate race, and all their rants about "Socialism", "Communism" and "Fascism" in the White House, and their talk of secession by Texas and some other Southern states, Conservatives and Republicans should become known as the Disloyal Opposition.

A Tempest In a Teapot
Most of the people involved in these protests were innocent dupes who fell for the usual Right-Wing propaganda. These Tea Parties were organized by the same old "Tax Breaks for Billionaires" crowd. The Tea Parties were of, by and for America's Billionaires, who would have been the biggest beneficiaries of this "tax revolution". It was also another huge promo for Fox News, the leading promoter of these Tea Parties. Fortunately, most Americans now recognize this phony baloney for what it is -- a huge effort by the GOP to sabotage Obama's recovery programs and regain power for the same Conservative ideology that led to the Crash of 2008. I hate to throw cold water on a Tea Party. But it's time to tuck away the teacups, and Rally 'Round The Flag, Boys, like the "good patriots" you tea-baggers always claim that you are.

Why We Must Legalize Abortions
My mom wanted to abort me. I am the result of an aborted abortion. What better argument could there be in favor of legalized abortions?
The Tea Party is Over -- and so are the Conservatives!
The GOP is dying because Conservatives have nothing relevant left to contribute to the national discussion about anything. This week's Mad Hatter Tea Parties were simply the Republican Party holding its own nationwide wake. This was a Tempest in a Teapot, and the Republican Teapot has been Drained to its Dregs. For this Tea Party, Conservatives really don't want to read the Tea Leaves or the Tea Bags. The Conservative Tea Party is Over -- and so are the Conservatives!
Conservatives Are America's Greatest Threat
The Department of Homeland Security has issued a new warning about the grave threat to America now being posed by Right-Wing extremist groups. Many Republican and Conservative political flacks have voiced strong objections to this warning by the DHS about the current very real threat of potential domestic terrorism.
Well, here is what the Southern Poverty Law Conference (Klan Watch), the leading monitor of American domestic terrorism, has to say about the matter:
"As you may recall, we've recently documented 926 hate groups operating in the U.S. These organizations are being fueled by immigration fears, the faltering economy, and the racist backlash to the election of President Obama.
Now, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has just issued a new alert warning of the dangers posed by these hate groups. It says that "white supremacist lone wolves" and "small terrorist cells embracing violent rightwing extremist ideology" are currently the most significant domestic terrorism threat.
With your help, we're fighting these groups every day by tracking and exposing their activities. We're also training law enforcement officers and making sure they have the latest and best intelligence on these dangerous extremists.
And we've warned the Pentagon about extremists who have infiltrated the armed services. No one, of course, can forget the deadly toll of the Oklahoma City bombing by Gulf War veteran, Timothy McVeigh."
Many Republicans and Conservatives dismiss these threats, and object to the alerts now being issued by the DHS. No wonder Conservatives have become either worthless or dangerous, or both.

Republicans Upset By Homeland Security Report on Right-Wing Extremist Groups
What idiots Republicans are. They seem incapable of saying anything that makes sense anymore. Of course, there is a risk that some returning servicemen might be recruited by violent Right-Wing extremist groups. We don't need any Homeland Security report to tell us that. Right-Wing extremist groups are all over the place, and they are being monitored by organizations like the ADL and the SPLC. They are constantly trying to recruit new members. They have already performed violent acts of domestic terrorism and there is no reason to doubt they would do it again, given the opportunity. For Republicans to extend their typical political Know-Nothing blather to America's domestic security and safety shows once again how deep into the sewer the GOP has slithered.

Mad Hatter Tea Parties -- A Nationwide GOP Wake
The GOP is dying because Conservatives have nothing relevant left to contribute to the national discussion about anything. This week's Mad Hatter Tea Parties were simply the Republican Party holding its own nationwide wake.

Conservative Meltdown
Bob Shrum aptly describes today's Republicans as "the do-nothing, denounce-everything Republican minority in Congress, the do-anything Republican attempt to overturn the Senate election in Minnesota, and the say-anything attacks of right-wing talk radio." Who can say it any better than that? No wonder Republicans and Conservatives are sinking into irrelevance. Today's Republicans are screaming like the Wicked Witch of the West at the end of "The Wizard of Oz" --- "I'm melting, I'm melting ..."
Conservative Silence
After having cued up their outrage for Obama's expected failure in trying to rescue the American ship captain from the Somali pirates, conservatives have generally been silent in the face of Obama's actual success.
Conservatives should be silent on many other matters, too. Conservative silence would be a welcome and constructive contribution by them to the national discussion on most of the important issues facing the United States today.

"Conservative" Has Become a Dirty Word
There are many dirty four-letter words. "Conservative" has now become our country's dirtiest twelve-letter word. That makes the word "Conservative" three times as dirty as any four-letter word.
Tea-Bagging Is Great Fun
Tea-Bagging sounds like Great Fun. Are there many Porn Stars participating in these Tea Parties?

Republicans Are A Lost Cause
Republicans have no interest in contributing anything positive to America's success. They only want to attack, slash and burn, and tear down the Obama Administration, so they can regain power in 2010. Hold out no hope for the GOP. Expect nothing constructive from Republicans over the next two years. The best approach is to try to defeat as many Republicans as possible in 2010, so the USA can continue moving forward in the positive direction where President Obama now has the country heading.
Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck -- Our Own Tokyo Rose, Axis Sally and Lord Haw Haw
Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck -- our own 21st Century Tokyo Rose, Axis Sally and Lord Haw Haw. Listen to these Media Traitors every day spewing their never-ending lies, misinformation and distortions in a relentless attempt to overthrow our elected government and destroy our nation. Tomorrow they will wage their "Tea Party Revolution." But their incessant Anti-American, Un-American, subversive, vitriolic rhetoric is a constant. Had these Quislings been broadcasting seventy years ago, we probably would have lost World War II. Let's see how much damage they can inflict on the USA today.
Anti-Abortionists Pressure Obama to End A Woman's Right to Choose
President Obama should stand firm in defending a woman's right to choose. It should be a woman's choice as to whether or not she wants to have and raise a baby, or whether she wants to end an unwanted pregnancy. It really isn't anybody else's business. All this Conservative talk about "Freedom" and "Liberty" rings very hollow and hypocritical when Conservatives try to force a woman to give birth to a child she doesn't want. What kind of mother would such a woman be?

American Ship Captain Freed by Navy Seals and Three Pirates Killed
My my my! A quick, decisive military victory led by American Liberals. Shades of World War II. Who can believe it?
Duped By Conservative Propaganda
Anyone who works 60 to 70 hours a week at a Pizza Hut and supports the Republican Party is a damn fool. Doesn't this woman realize that the Republican Party is working 60 to 70 hours a week to keep her in destitution? These Tea Parties are to make sure that America's Wealthiest continue to not pay their fair share of taxes, so that all the burdens -- paying the costs of government, fighting two wars, working long hours for low wages, losing their homes -- continue to fall on everybody else. Poor lady, indeed. She is a victim both of Conservative Policies and of Conservative Propaganda.
Response to Right-Wing Smears of Obama
Dear Rightie:
You say that Obama "doesn't even hold his hand over his heart to Salute the American flag..." The picture you are referring to involved the singing of the Star Spangled Banner -- Not saluting the flag! Go to Yankee Stadium on any fine Summer's Day, and you'll found thousands of fans who don't hold their hands over their hearts during the National Anthem. Are all these Yankee fans Un-American traitors, too?
As for Obama's not wearing an American Flag lapel pin -- well, some Americans wear their patriotism on their sleeves. Most Americans -- like Obama -- wear their patriotism in their hearts. The first is superficial -- the second is The Real Thing.
That picture of the "FULL bow" to the Muslim King is still unclear. Was it a bow, was it reaching down to shake hands, was it protocol? Bush did far worse things in his encounters with foreign kings, especially the king of Saudi Arabia. Yet, Bush's dealings with the Saudi king don't seem to bother you.
Some people are still upset with Hillary Clinton because she kissed Mrs. Yasser Arafat more than a decade ago. Diplomacy and protocol often bring out strange reactions in people.
The reason the Republican Party is history now is because Conservatives always seem to focus on these petty picayune peccadillos instead of on the real problems that affect Americans.
ACORN has been accused of many things, investigated for many things, and has never been convicted of anything. I guess the real ACORN "wrong-doing" is getting out the vote for liberals and Democrats.
William Ayres and Obama hardly know each other, and haven't even met each other in years. Whatever Ayres may have done back in his Weathermen days (we don't know because he was never convicted of anything), now, thirty years later, he has a new life in which he is a highly recognized expert on education. As such, Ayres has served on various boards and committees in Chicago devoted to improving education. In that capacity, Ayres has come into contact with many Chicago civic leaders (including Obama) who are devoted to improving education. None of these other people, including Obama, was ever involved with the Weathermen, or was ever accused of committing any acts of domestic terrorism.
For you to accuse Obama of "associating" or "accepting contributions" from Ayres is merely your blindly repeating Right-Wing Sean Hannity Talking Points. You are divorced from reality.
William Ayres has gotten himself a new life. Maybe you should get yourself a new life, too, my friend.

Obama, Rick Warren and Ghandi
President Obama was right in recognizing that Rick Warren is a decent man by participating in the campaign debate with McCain at Rick Warren's church, and by inviting Warren to deliver the Inaugural Invocation. Now, Rick Warren is demonstrating his innate decency by making clear that he is not a fierce proponent of Proposition 8, and by opening the door to Gay Marriage. As Ghandi said: "I'm not against Jesus, I'm simply against "some Christians". Jesus never preached against inter-racial marriage, or against Gay Marriage. It is only "some Christians" who have found those prohibitions in their Bibles. Those Christians should lend their Bibles to Thomas Jefferson to make some important revisions.

Religion Cannot Justify Anti-Gay Discrimination
Religions that promote prejudice and intolerance should not be entitled to Constitutional protection. How about those religions which taught that God prohibits inter-racial marriage and there should be no mingling of the races? Racial purity was sanctioned by religion. Today, some religions still promote discrimination against gays. A religion is supposed to teach its adherents to live better lives, not to hurt and discriminate against others. That's not a religion -- that's a hate group.
Bo and Fala
Sixty-five years ago, in one of his most heralded speeches, President Roosevelt said: "The Republicans, not content with attacking me, my wife Eleanor, and our sons, have now begun leveling their attacks against my little dog, Fala." 65 years later, Republicans have not changed one whit. President Obama had better start brushing the dust off that famous old speech -- simply changing the name "Fala" to "Bo."
Did Obama Bow to Saudi King Abdullah?
If the only thing Conservatives have to worry about is whether or not Obama bowed to King Abdullah, they must be on their last gasp. Of what consequence is it? None whatsoever. Outside of the deluded minds of Conservatives, whether he did or he didn't has no significance at all. I guess it's easier for Conservatives to focus on the "Obama bow" than to face the fact that they are through as a political force in America. Of course, the reason that Conservatives are history is simply because they have always focused on petty things like this instead of on the real problems of Americans.

Levi Vs. Sarah
I have no problem with Levi Johnston. I believe he was sincerely in love with Bristol, and that he truly loves his child. He seems like a decent enough young man. His involvement with the McCain campaign was really no more than his being seen a lot with Bristol, to whom he apparently was truly committed at the time.
I believe the problem is Sarah Palin. I think she is a narrow-minded, mental lightweight and, according to Levi, she is a snobby social climber, too. I don't think Levi is opportunistic. I believe Sarah is. Her main contribution to the campaign was to accuse Obama of "Pallin' Around With Terrorists". That doesn't sound nearly as bad as "Pallin' Around With Palin."
At least, Levi has the credentials for the type of jobs he is seeking. I can't say the same for Sarah -- even if she can see me from her house whenever I fly over Alaska.

Levi Illuminates Sarah Palin
Maybe both families are white trash, but only one of them had the audacity to think she could be Vice President of the United States -- one heartbeat away from the presidency. Levi Johnston does not seem to be white trash. He appears to be a bright, intelligent, committed young man -- far wiser and more mature than his 18 years would imply. He probably would have been an excellent husband and father, if the natural feelings between Bristol and him had been allowed to run their course. I'm very glad Levi is speaking out now. He is helping all of us see what a narrow escape our nation just had. Republicans are criticizing Obama? Poo Bah! They would have saddled us with Sarah Palin as our Vice-President. Thank you, Levi, for letting us all see the next near-disaster Conservatives were preparing to heap upon our country.
Conservative Bull Words
A Conservative "Bull Word" is a word that Conservative Media flacks and parrots quack which is full of Bull, and which gets their Right-Wing looney-tune disciples charging down the pampas like a herd of enraged Bulls stampeding after a waving red flag. You might call it "Conservative Flack Quack". You might even call it "Waving the Red Flag", especially since two of the Conservatives' favorite Bull Words are "Socialist" and"Communist" -- referring to President Obama and Speaker Pelosi.
This week, Conservatives have a new Bull Word -- "Apologize" -- as in, "President Obama on his current trip to Europe "apologized" to the rest of the world for things he says the United States has done wrong. What Malarkey! Obama did not apologize to anyone about the United States. He made a supremely successful trip overseas in which he spoke, with great diplomacy, about mistakes made in the past by both Europe and the United States and the need to improve relations between the two. He made an excellent start in getting those relations back on the right track.
The last time a U.S. president visited Iraq, in December 2008, shoes were thrown at him. I guess Republicans prefer having that kind of clueless president than our current incumbent who is cheered wherever he goes in the world. Obama also received a thunderous reception from American troops in Iraq -- which carries a lot more weight than listening to the Bull Words of today's Conservative Media.
Liberals like the fact that we have solid allies in this world. It makes the U. S. a lot stronger. Being supported by many reliable allies helped the U. S. win World War II in 3-1/2 years, under liberal American leadership. By contrast, we've had Conservative leadership for the past eight years, following 9/11 -- alienating our allies all over the world -- and where do we stand today in the War On Terror?
Obama is restoring our international relationships, and thereby making the U. S. much safer and stronger. He is getting moderate Muslim countries more firmly on our side. That makes good sense. After all, they are the ones who have the most to lose from Islamic terrorism, since moderate Muslim governments are the ones which Islamic terrorists are trying to overthrow and replace. Our ability to defeat Islamic Terrorism has improved greatly by having a popular, charismatic president with a brain in the White House instead of Mister Bumble-Fumble who alienated so much of the world and made the U. S. more isolated than ever.
Conservative Bull Words should be recognized for what they are -- a lot of Bull being thrown by the usual sources.

Here's a Governor's Statement Worth Quoting
GOVERNOR CULVER ISSUES STATEMENT
ON SUPREME COURT’S DECISION
DES MOINES – Governor Chet Culver today issued the following statement after reviewing the Iowa Supreme Court’s decision in Varnum v. Brien:
“I have carefully reviewed the Iowa Supreme Court's unanimous decision on civil marriage and discussed it with the Attorney General.
“Let me begin by saying that I recognize that the issue of same-gender civil marriage is one that evokes strongly held beliefs and strong emotions both for and against. These beliefs and feelings need to be respected. I hope that the views of those on all sides will be treated respectfully and will not be subjected to name-calling or fear-mongering, but instead will lead to rational discussion.
“At the outset, I want to emphasize that the question before the Iowa Supreme Court was one of civil marriage only – a state-recognized legal status constituting a civil contract. Civil marriage always has been, and will continue to be, separate from religious marriage that takes place in churches and places of worship.
“As I have stated before, I personally believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. This is a tenet of my personal faith. The Iowa Supreme Court’s decision has, in fact, reaffirmed that churches across Iowa will continue to have the right to recognize the sanctity of religious marriage in accordance with their own traditions and church doctrines. The Supreme Court’s decision does not require that churches recognize marriages between persons of the same gender or officiate over such unions. The Court does not have, nor should any court ever have, that kind of power over our religious lives. Our churches and places of worship are free to decide for themselves, as they were before, who may enter the sacred covenant of marriage. As the Supreme Court’s decision states, ‘The sanctity of all religious marriages celebrated in the future will have the same meaning as those celebrated in the past.’
“Yet, the Supreme Court of Iowa, in a unanimous decision, has clearly stated that the Constitution of our state, which guarantees equal protection of the law to all Iowans, requires the State of Iowa to recognize the civil marriage contract of two people of the same gender. The Court also concluded that the denial of this right constitutes discrimination. Therefore, after careful consideration and a thorough reading of the Court’s decision, I am reluctant to support amending the Iowa Constitution to add a provision that our Supreme Court has said is unlawful and discriminatory.
“As Governor, I must respect the authority of the Iowa Supreme Court, and have a duty to uphold the Constitution of the State of Iowa. I also fully respect the right of all Iowans to live under the full protection of Iowa’s Constitution.
“I urge Iowans who hold beliefs on all sides of this issue to exhibit respect and good will. Our state faces many serious challenges. We are in the midst of a serious economic recession. Tens of thousands of our fellow Iowans are without work. We have suffered the worst natural disasters and most difficult recovery our state has ever faced. We must join together and redouble our efforts to work toward solutions that will help Iowans in this time of uncertainty. That is where, I believe, my focus and energies should lie.
“Let us not lose sight of the fact that we are all Iowans, all neighbors, united in the promise and faith of a brighter future for our state. Let us all work together toward that common goal.”

Vermont Becomes Fourth State to Legalize Gay Marriage
Today, Vermont became the fourth state to legalize Gay Marriage. The list now includes Vermont, Connecticut. Massachusetts and Iowa -- and the momentum is growing. Washington, DC also has just voted to recognize Gay Marriages, though the approval of Congress is still required.
Marijuana will probably be legalized soon, too. These are all political decisions. Lines must me drawn somewhere -- based upon states' rights and the will of the people in each state.
When the voting age was lowered to 18 from 21, one might have argued: "Why not lower the voting age to 16? After all, 16-year olds are allowed to drive, so why shouldn't they be allowed to vote?"
It's a political decision. The lawmakers and the people decided that 18-year olds should have the right to vote, but not 16-year olds. Similar distinctions are now being made in these other social areas, as well.
Gay Marriages are rapidly being legalized -- but not incestuous or polygamous marriages.
Likewise, marijuana will be legalized in many states before much longer -- but not other, more destructive drugs. Medical marijuana is already legal in California, since the drug apparently has some beneficial effects and its harmful effects are no worse than liquor.

Do Conservatives Really Want to Reduce Taxes?
According to the True Majority organization, yesterday, Secretary of Defense Gates explained to Congress that wasting taxes on weapons which don't work and have no conceivable use against real-world enemies makes us LESS strong as a nation.
Wasteful programs like the F-22 fighter jet were designed to fight countries like the Soviet Union that don't exist anymore. Admirals and generals have all said that these things are unnecessary-- we only keep building them because they make a lot of money for defense contractors and lobbyists.
Do Conservatives really want to reduce taxes, or are they happy to continue paying their taxes to support these costly, wasteful and obsolete weapons programs?

Socialism vs. Financial Oligarchy
Conservatives don't want Socialism. Liberals don't want a Financial Oligarchy. Conservatives are afraid of concentrating too much power in the hands of the government. Liberals are equally afraid of a vast concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few people -- a Financial Oligarchy. A few wealthy families almost gained control of America in the late 19th century. The only power strong enough to counter-balance these wealthy individuals was and is the government. If we followed the theories of Conservatives to their logical extremes, we would end up living in a system of feudalism -- with all of America's economic power concentrated in the hands of a few Lords of the Manor and Robber Barons. If Conservatives truly believe in Liberty, then they should be concerned about a concentration of power not only in the hands of the government but also in the hands of America's Wealthiest. Nobody wants Socialism. Nobody is advocating government takeover of all private enterprise -- and that's certainly not what Obama stands for. But if Conservatives truly want Liberty, they should be equally aware of the threat to their freedoms coming from some of America's wealthiest individuals who -- through Right-Wing Media -- are feeding them this insidious propaganda that government measures aimed to curtail their power over the rest of us represent "Socialism".
Conservatives Can't Stand America's Success
Conservatives are like lemmings, stewing in their own propaganda, rushing merrily over the cliff while the rest of the country is on the fast-track to economic recovery. A year from today -- when the country is up and running again, bigger and better than ever (thanks to the programs of the Obama Administration), Conservatives will still be swilling in their own juices, still complaining because Ayn Rand is not America's Treasury Secretary and Sean Hannity is not Secretary of State.
Bank of America, Citigroup and Chase are Back in the Black
Obama's Stimulus Packages and Bailout Plans are working -- despite the best Conservative efforts to sabotage our economy and wreck our country. Over the fierce resistance and the dead body of the Republican Party, the Obama Administration is bringing the American economy back to life -- healthier and more robust than ever.

Today's Conservatives Vs. The Founding Fathers
In 1787, when the Constitution was adopted, the the backbone of the American economy consisted of thousands of small, independent tradesmen, manufacturers and landowners. However, as the nineteenth century progressed, there was an increasing concentration of wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer people, many of whom became known as Robber Barons, including Harriman, Hill, Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, DuPont, Insull, etc. These were railroad magnates, oil magnates, industrialists and bankers.
The social legislation of the early twentieth century, instituted by Republican reformers such as Teddy Roosevelt and other "trust-busters" -- including estate taxes, progressive income taxes, etc. -- was designed to break up these dynasties, eliminate the huge concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, and restore the American economy to the more widespread distribution of wealth which existed at the time of our nation's inception.
This social legislation resulted in a slight "re-distribution of wealth", not in any attempt to bring Socialism or Communism to these shores, but rather to try and restore the kind of economy that existed at the time of our Founding Fathers -- a fairer, more equitable, more widespread distribution of America's wealth than had developed by the end of the nineteenth century.
Today's Conservatives are exactly the opposite of what they present themselves to be. Today's Conservatives favor an increasing concentration of wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer people, and they oppose any legislation that would restore the more equitable society that existed at the time of our Founding Fathers. They are diametrically opposed to the American Dream and to the economic system upon which our nation was founded. Today's Conservatives are "American Patriots" in the same way that "the wolf in sheep's clothing" was a sheep.
Today's "Tea Parties" are designed to ensure that America's Wealthiest continue to not pay their fair share of taxes, and that the burdens of supporting the economy, fighting two wars, working long hours for low wages, and losing their homes, continue to fall on everybody else.

Limbaugh Dares Obama To Debate Him
Limbaugh couldn't even debate Barbara Walters effectively. Babs made Rush look like the blubbering fool that he is. Obama has knocked out a dozen other presidential contenders and Senate opponents in debates -- Democrats and Republicans. Obama would wipe the floor with Rush. No contest. Stop the Fight. A First Round Knockout for Obama.
Limbaugh and Goebbels
Rush Limbaugh says that we should listen to him every day in order to form a valid opinion of his broadcasts. Well, I do listen to him every day. I consider myself part of Rush's vast radio audience. To me, it's the equivalent of listening to Josef Goebbels every day during World War II. I missed that opportunity back then, and I'm grateful to Rush for giving me this rare opportunity to catch up. It's like listening to a daily House of Horrors. I always look forward to hearing Rush's Big Lie of the Day (and all of his little lies in between). Who needs Josef Goebbels when you've got Rush Limbaugh? This time, the sequel is just as good as the original.
A Conservative "Comes The Revolution"
Some Conservatives, besides planning their "tea parties", are also saying that the Declaration of Independence would justify their starting a revolution now against President Obama and his administration.
Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776, spelling out the right of American colonists to revolt against the rule of the British king. Then the Constitution was adopted in 1787, and it superseded the Declaration of Independence. Thereafter, in 1800, Thomas Jefferson became the third president of the United Sates. As president, Jefferson surely did not believe that his Declaration of Independence created a right for American citizens to start a revolution against their own government. Had there been an attempt at any such revolution, I'm sure President Jefferson would have taken strong military action to stop it. If Jefferson were alive today, I'm confident he would not find anything in his writings that would justify Americans starting a revolution against their own government now. I'm certain he would consider that sort of talk extremely "Un-American".

The Conservative Media War Against Obama
Obama is doing a fantastic job -- restoring our economy through his Stimulus Packages and bail-out programs; and returning the USA to its position of world leadership instead of the world pariah Bush had made us. However, we do have an all-out war raging as Conservatives in the media do everything they can to wreck the Obama Administration so they can regain power and go back to their primary business of destroying the American economy. They are accusing him of Socialism, Communism, Bolshevism, and -- ye gods -- "apologizing" to Europe. Conservatives have declared war on Obama and his administration, and it's up to those of us who want this country to survive and thrive to wage an unrelenting counter-war against Conservatism.
Iowa Supreme Court Approves Same Sex Marriage
The United States Constitution says nothing about "the pursuit of happiness". That was in the Declaration of Independence. Apparently, this means that, once the Constitution was ratified, Americans lost the right to "the pursuit of happiness." I'm sure that's what today's homophobes, bigots and other Conservatives would tell us. Conservatives do believe in Liberty, but only for themselves.
America's Media Traitors
What America needs now is a full-scale Media Retrospective of those fabled World War II broadcasts by Axis Sally and Tokyo Rose. We should listen once again to those terrific "Entertainers" getting their message across during World War II -- with lovely music, pop songs, sweet talk, jokes -- all the while saying anything and everything they possibly could to undermine America's war effort. Nothing could be more timely today than to have all of America listen once again to those nostalgic broadcasts.
Then we will be able to see and understand exactly what Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, and their ilk, are doing today. These Right-Wing broadcasters are today's traitors just as surely as Axis Sally and Tokyo Rose were back then. They are using their broadcasts to undermine and undercut President Obama's efforts to save our economy from Conservative destruction and to protect our country from Afghanistan-based terrorists.
When these Right-Wing kangaroos refer to President Obama as a "Socialist", or as "Comrade Brezhnev", or as "Comrade Stalin", or as a "Bolshevik", they are undermining America just as surely as those other traitors did during World War II.

Socialism or Capitalism?
Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck have a funny way of calling those who are trying to save capitalism "Socialists", and those who destroy capitalism -- like the Bush and Cheney Gang - - well, they are "Capitalists". Conservatives engage in reverse gobbledy-speak. The only reason capitalism is in such deep trouble now -- shedding jobs so massively every month -- is because of Bush's "Conservative" policies of the past eight years -- tax breaks for the wealthiest, de-regulation, government incompetence and cronyism -- and everything else be damned. Those greedy, short-sighted "Capitalists" are the people who have nearly wrecked capitalism. Obama's "Socialist" policies are the programs that will save capitalism and put our capitalist economy back on the right track again, regardless of all the false and deceptive propaganda about "Socialism" spewing from the Rabid Right.

Conservatives Claim Obama Is a Socialist
Socialism is the economic system that replaces capitalism after capitalism has been destroyed by the greed and short-sightedness of Conservative economic policies. Accordingly, when Conservatives claim that Obama is introducing Socialism to the USA, they are saying that eight years of Bush's Conservative economic policies have destroyed (or nearly destroyed) the American capitalist system and that the time for Socialism has now arrived.

Obama's Socialism
Since Adolf Hitler lied about everything, the fact that the word "Socialist" was included in the name of his Party is proof in itself that the Nazi Party was not Socialist. The Nazi Party was a Right-Wing Party which was mortally opposed to Communism and the left-wing. That's why, at the height of the Hitler-Stalin Pact, Hitler suddenly stabbed his ally Stalin in the back by invading the Soviet Union without provocation in Operation Barabarossa in June 1941. Even before that, in the Spanish Civil War of 1936, it was the Right-Wing Nazis and Italian Fascists battling against the left-wing Communists backed by the Soviet Union. No, there's no getting away from the fact that the Nazis were a Far Right extremist party, backed by big business, which had no use for Socialism whatsoever. As for the proper definition of Socialism -- "Socialism is the economic system that replaces Capitalism whenever Capitalism is periodically wrecked by the rampaging Conservative economic policies of greed and short-sightedness" -- like now, for example.
Is Norm Coleman Proving that Our Democracy Is Disfunctional?
Norm Coleman seems to be trying to prove that the American system of government is disfunctional, and that he can use the court system to grind the workings of our government to a halt. Surely, if we can't conclude an election and have a Senator seated from Minnesota, then why do we pride ourselves so much on our representative form of government? Five months in limbo -- and counting -- sounds like a pretty flawed system to me.

Is It A Death Tax or an Estate Tax?
Of course, Republicans refer to the Estate Tax as the Death Tax. They call it a tax on Dying, which it isn't. It's a tax on Estates. There's a clear reason why Republicans avoid the use of the word "Estate".
What is an Estate? In medieval days of yore, an Estate was an area of land owned by the Lord of the Manor. The people who lived on the Estate worked for that Nobleman and they were called Serfs. The entire system was called "Feudalism".
In the United States, estate taxes were introduced in the early 20th century in order to break up large estates and prevent America from coming under the complete control of the Robber Barons who had dominated our economy throughout most of the 19th century. Whether they are called Barons, Nobles or Lords, they own large estates and they control the economy. All the folks who work for them are called Serfs. The system is called Feudalism.
The reason Conservatives will not call it the estate tax is because they believe in Feudalism. They don't believe in American Capitalism. Conservatives keep destroying American Capitalism every few years through their rapacious, insatiable greed and stupidity. Conservatives believe in Feudalism. They want a system with a few Lords, Nobles and Barons who own large estates at the top, and everyone else part of a mass society of Serfs.
That's why Rush Limbaugh belittles homeless people who own cell phones; that's why he ridicules a homeless woman who tells Obama that she and her family would rather be living in a home than out of the back of a car; that's why he labels homeless people "Losers"; that's why Rush turns on all his Christmas lights during Earth Hour; that's why Rush's sense of outrage is reserved for the Obama Administration's attempt to retrieve a portion of the huge bonuses that were paid to AIG executives out of taxpayer bailout money. How dare Obama go after the birth right of the Lords of the Manor? How dare he try to diminish their estates?
Limbaugh and his fellow Conservatives believe in Feudalism for America. All of their sympathies are in favor of America's Lords, Barons, Nobles, and multi-millionaires (of course, including Rush himself, first and foremost) -- and against our vast and rapidly growing population of Serfs (including, first and foremost, Rush's very own Dittoheads).
