It's high time for the White House to get the real facts out there, and not let its Health Care plan be buried by the Right-Wing Noise Machine. There must be a reason why Britishers visiting the USA rush back to England if they get sick, and don't stay here in the US where they might be bankrupted by a serious illness. The same goes for Frenchmen, Italians, Germans, Canadians, etc. Even a poor country like Cuba has universal medical coverage for all of its people, which we don't.

What I Believe In

We live in a pretty ideal country, the USA. I don't have to devise a new country. We already have a fine place to live.

However, it's not a perfect country. As our forefathers said, they were going to form "a more perfect union". They knew they didn't have a perfect country, and they also knew they would never have a perfect country. They were simply creating a new and improved nation. The past 230 years has been the history of making this country a better place for everyone to live.

Over the past 230 years, we have abolished slavery; given women the right to vote; created equal rights for people of all races, colors and religions; abolished prohibition; legalized unions; improved working conditions for employees; created minimum wages and maximum hour laws; created Social Security and Medicare for the elderly, etc., etc.

Today's New Frontiers involve creating universal health care coverage; promoting embryonic stem cell research; establishing gay rights including the right of same-sex marriage and the right to serve openly in the military; protecting abortion rights for all women; legalizing marijuana and taxing the sale thereof (like liquor); creating reasonable gun control laws; safeguarding and protecting the State of Israel and not placing undue pressure on the Israeli government to jeopardize the security of its people; normalizing relations with Cuba and allowing all Americans to freely travel there; keeping religion out of the public sector so that all persons can practice religion (or non-belief) in their own way without imposing their religious beliefs on others, etc.

Conservatives call most of these programs "Socialist" -- which is a lot of malarkey. These are all-American programs and they are part of what makes capitalism work. They make the system function fairly so that many more people can participate in the abundance that capitalism produces, not merely the few at the top.

Conservatives have always opposed social progress and they continue to do so. Conservatives are Communists because, like Communists, they want most of the material goods and wealth to be concentrated in the hands of a few people at the top (in the case of Communism, that was the Communist Party leadership). Conservatives are America's Real Terrorists because their policies of de-regulation and using the tax code to re-distribute wealth to the few people at the top almost destroyed our
economic system, and because they fight tooth and nail against the social and economic programs that would make this a better, fairer, healthier and stronger country.

Obama is very much on the right track with his policies. As the Right-Wing Hate Media attacks Obama with ever-greater venom, it becomes even more important to expose their lies and show people how much damage the Right-Wing is doing to this country.

In short, we have a great country. We also have a duty to stop the Right-Wing from wrecking it.

"On the July 27 edition of his Fox News show, Sean Hannity repeatedly misrepresented Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.'s 1994 interview on C-SPAN's Booknotes to suggest that Gates had recently said he agreed with Malcolm X that the "white man was the devil" and to smear Gates as "extreme" and a "radical." In fact, in that interview, Gates was talking about events in 1959, specifically his witnessing his mother's positive reaction to a documentary they watched together about Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam. In the C-SPAN interview, Gates stated that while he was "cowering in a corner" during the documentary, his mother's "face was radiant" and added that watching her reaction was "like watching the Wicked Witch of the West emerge out of the transforming features of Dorothy." Gates went on to describe how he learned that his mother had been a victim of "white racism" at the hands of the "wealthy white people" for whom she worked. Moreover, in spite of his mother's views, which Gates said were the result of the mistreatment she suffered, Gates noted in that same exchange that his wife of nearly 15 years was white, and that their engagement led to strife with and within his family."

Yeah, Professor Gates must be an "anti-white radical", Sean. After all, Gates has been married to a white woman for 15 years, lives in an upper middle class white neighborhood, is a professor at America's most prestigious white university, has devoted his professional career to teaching racial reconciliation, etc., etc. All of this stamps Gates as an "anti-white radical", right?

However, to say that Hannity Lies is no news. Hannity lies and distorts the facts every single day. There should be a segment of his show, entitled "Hannity's Lie of the Day". Actually, it should be called "Hannity's Biggest Lie of the Day" -- since he tells so many of them. Anyway, lying about and smearing a prestigious black university professor is something at which Hannity excels. Lies and distortions are Hannity's areas of expertise. That's why Hannity is such a super-star at Fox News. No one can peddle the blarney like old Sean.

Stop The Conservatives, Save the USA

We won't have another economic collapse, unless Conservatives manage to wreck everything Obama is trying to do. If Obama gets his programs through Congress, this country will come back bigger and stronger than ever. The Conservatives almost destroyed the USA during the eight Bush years, and now they're using their Right-Wing corporate Hate Media to try to prevent this country from being rescued. Hopefully, most people are awake now and will support Obama's programs and will stop the GOP from completing the destruction of America.

Birthers like Dobbs point to the fact that the campaign released the "short form" certification rather than the "long form" -- which is drawn up by the hospital and contains more information -- as the crux of their argument that the President is hiding something. But as FactCheck.org noted when they investigated and debunked claims about Obama's birth certificate, "the Hawaii Department of Health's birth record request form does not give the option to request a photocopy of your long-form birth certificate," and "their short form has enough information to be acceptable to the State Department." Birthers, like conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi, claim that the certificate posted by the Obama campaign was "a false, fake birth certificate," but its authenticity has been independently confirmed by FactCheck.org, which examined it in person and declared that "it is real and three-dimensional." Additionally, on Oct. 31, 2008, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, issued a statement saying that he had "personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Definitive proof of Obama's Hawaii birth has also been found in the archives of two Hawaii newspapers, the Honululu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin, which both printed birth announcements days after Obama was born in 1961. Where Can You Find A Wise Latina Woman When You Need One?

Obama was wrong to say that the Boston police "acted stupidly" by arresting Professor Gates. What he should have said was that, if they had acted with the wisdom and experience of "a wise Latina woman", this situation would never have happened.

Kenya Believe It?

In six short months, Obama is already shaping up as one of America's greatest presidents ever. Yet, here we have these "conspiracy folks" claiming he was born in Kenya. That's very offensive and demeaning to the United States. Are they saying that, in this entire huge country, we could not produce anyone of the calibre, quality and stature of Obama, and that we had go to far-off Kenya to produce a president of this brilliance and ability? Obama Showed Leadership in the Gates-Crowley Confrontation

Most Americans are glad that Obama spoke out on this subject, did not dodge the question, acted like a president and a leader, and has now caused Americans to re-think this entire issue. A local confrontation has become a national learning experience, thanks to Obama. That's why Obama is a great president, and he's barely begun. You ain't seen nothin' yet.

Crowley, Gates and Obama

Sgt. Crowley is a very admirable police officer. I have the highest respect for him. He is certainly no racist.

However, once Professor Gates showed him his ID, and Crowley saw that the man was sitting at his own kitchen table in his own house -- not ransacking or burglarizing the place -- the Sergeant should have defused the problem.

Crowley is a trained peace officer, trained to keep the peace, not to escalate a heated situation. He should understand that Gates was justifiably upset by being confronted by the police in his own house, for doing nothing at all. A Man's Home Is His Castle, someone once said -- at least, theoretically.

Crowley is a highly qualified police trainer and instructor. He should have calmed the situation down, not allowed it to escalate.

They are both good people, they both over-reacted, they both made mistakes. Obama is trying to bring the two parties together and put this problem behind them -- and Obama will succeed in doing that.

A Couple of Posted Comments on Gates-Crowley-Obama Worth Noting

1. It wasn't one of Professor Gates's neighbors that called the police; it was a woman from Malden who was passing by.

2. I don't think this Crowley was racist - just stupid. He let his ego get in the way of doing the right thing and just leaving the house after he was shown Professor Gates' ID. Some of these cops need to learn to earn respect by doing their jobs with integrity. Many are good people but some like to abuse their power. At no time was the cop in danger and he should have left Professor Gates. He is supposed to be an "Officer of the Peace" and should not have escalated this into an arrest. Obama was right again!

So, as you can see, the American people do have a lot of wisdom and common sense.

Conservatives and Unions

My dear Conservative friends are against all unions -- except the Police Union. I'm glad to see there's at least one union that Conservatives support.

Nit-Picking Cuts Two Ways

As long as we're nit-picking Obama's comment that the Boston police acted "stupidly", let us nit-pick what Police Officer Crowley did.

Several times, Professor Gates asked Officer Crowley for his name and badge number, and the officer refused to give it to him -- even though the law requires him to do so. By refusing to give Gates his name and badge number, Crowley was in violation of the law.

So, it's reasonable to say that, on this point, Officer Crowley broke the law, and that's usually considered acting "stupidly". In any event, his refusal to comply with Professor Gates's request was certainly not professional.

Gates, Crowley and Obama -- The Right-Wing Noise Machine Picks Another Losing Fight

I have the highest regard for Boston police officer, Crowley. I think he is a consummate professional. I look forward to his having a beer with President Obama at the White House. Hopefully, Professor Gates will be joining them.

I'm confident that Obama will emerge from this racial controversy smelling like a rose, and the Right-Wing Noise Machine will once again have egg on its face, having picked itself another losing battle.

All three of these men will probably end up as good friends, and Obama will have given our country another much-needed lesson in racial reconciliation.

The Source of The Phony Birth Certiificate Teapot Tempest

As he has in several other instances, Lou Dobbs, in taking up the birthers' claims, is adopting an unsubstantiated conspiracy theory that originated on the radical racist right. As Gawker.com has reported, this particular conspiracy theory was first developed by an open anti-Semite and circulated by right-wing extremists who cannot accept the fact that a black man has been elected president of the United States. Among its adherents was neo-Nazi James von Brunn, the alleged murderer of a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., this June. Von Brunn had helped spread the birthers' claims on the Internet and attacked the "dishonest & conspiratorial Media" for not taking them up.

America's Right-Wing Radio Kamikaze Audience

The only thing the Republican Party has going for it is the Right-Wing Talk Radio Propaganda Noise Machine -- Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, ad nauseum, et al -- and its listening audience of gullible, susceptible lemmings. Today's Right-Wing Talk Radio audience is just like the Japanese kamikaze pilots of World War II who were brain-washed by Japanese propaganda into crashing their planes into the sides of American battle ships and killing themselves. Rush Limbaugh, et al, now enjoy a modern-day audience of American kamikaze suiciders who currently commit political hari kari and self-immolation in response to their daily dose of Right-Wing radio propaganda.

What benefit did the Japanese World War II pilots achieve for themselves and their families by crashing their planes into the sides of American battle ships? Huffington Post: Republican Congressmen Put Party Above Constitution and Cost Many Lives

Two former Republican members of Congress have accused their GOP colleagues of putting party politics over the Constitution during the Bush years, arguing that they failed dramatically to check the White House's use of executive powers.

Former Reps. Mickey Edwards (R-Okla.) and Chris Shays (R-Conn.) made the argument that if the Republican-controlled Congress had exhibited greater oversight during former President George W. Bush's time in office, they could have prevented some of the most calamitous results of that administration and even saved thousands of lives.

Speaking at a panel on congressional oversight powers, Shays argued that had more members of Congress, including Republicans, gone to Iraq and visited Abu Ghraib, prisoner abuses would have come to light sooner.

"That would have alerted the administration to what was happening, the command authority to what was happening and it probably would have saved a 1,000 lives," Shays said. Shays said the Bush White House abused its powers in a way that resulted in many of the domestic and international problems that have unfolded recently.

"This past Republican Congress hurt this administration by not having some hearings," said the Connecticut Republican. "Had we had hearings it would have nipped those problems in the bud."

A Wise Latina Woman vs. Five Roberts Robots

When Judge Sonia Sotomayor coined the phrase "A Wise Latina Woman" in a speech intended to inspire a group of Hispanic female graduating students, all Hell broke loose. The Right-Wing Dingbats immediately accused her of Racism or, in the elegant new phrase created by Grand Klaxon Rush Limbaugh -- "Reverse Racism". "Reverse Racism" used to mean "Anti-Racism", or "the opposite of Racism". Not anymore! According to the Klan's new Lexicon, as promulgated by Grand Klaxon Limbaugh, it now means "Racism on behalf of minority groups."

Actually, all this "Brouhaha in a Teapot" has helped focus attention on the five Rich Old White men now serving on the Supreme Court (including Clarence Thomas who, deep down inside, is a complete Soul Brother of the other four). Those five "Conservatives" are so iron-bound, so rigid, so predictable. These are not judges or "impartial umpires". These five march in lock-step with the views of the Heritage Foundation, the Ayn Rand Institute and other Right-Wing "think-tanks." (Although the word "think" is an oxymoron when used in conjunction with these Right-Wing "tanks"). They represent America's privileged and wealthy class above everyone else.

If they were really impartial judges, their decisions would not be so uniformly in favor of the power structure and against the little guy -- pro-social conformity and against individual rights. There would be much more variety in their decisions if they truly examined each disparate set of facts and not simply imposed their own hidebound Right-Wing philosophy on each case. They are very Activist in trying to return this country to an outmoded, discredited by-gone jurisprudence and prevent it from moving boldly and successfully into the future.

The hearings on Judge Sotomayor have turned out to be a public trial of today's five sitting Conservative justices and the Far Right Republican senators who support them. This Wise Latina Woman, in her wisdom, restraint, intelligence and dignity has demonstrated what a breath of fresh air she would bring to the Supreme Court to help counter-balance today's Five Roberts Robots.

Conservative Disloyal Opposition

Obama's stimulus policies are causing America to succeed, as we can see this week from the rising stock market, improved profit reports from banks and financial institutions, and a reduction in new filings for unemployment benefits. So, when Rush Limbaugh says he wants Obama's policies to fail, that's the same as saying he wants America to fail. Obama's policies are rescuing America from the bloody mess Conservatives left behind. What's worse is that Conservatives learn nothing from their mistakes. They are still trying to block, stall and sabotage the Obama economic policies that are revitalizing this country. America will be saved in spite of the recalcitrance and destructiveness of today's Conservative Disloyal Opposition.

Destructive Obstructionist Conservative Dingbats

By the time Obama is finished, this country will have achieved its greatest heights -- thanks to Obama's policies, and over the dead bodies of all the destructive obstructionist Conservative dingbats.

Conservatives are against increasing and expanding the stimulus package; against bailing out more businesses and state governments; against spending additional taxpayer dollars to save the economy, re-vitalize America's infra-structure and create more jobs; against expanding medical benefits and reducing medical and insurance costs; against battling Global Warming; against our re-uniting with the United Nations; against trying to solve international problems by any means other than war; and in favor of continuing the disastrous policies of the past eight years which have nearly destroyed our economy and brought us great international embarrassment.

Conservatives are against having a president who is loved throughout the world and can't wait to bring back to the White House a president who is universally despised.

If it's bad for America, it's good for Conservatives. "I Want America to Fail", Rush Limbaugh. Conservatives would rather see America fail than to succeed using Obama's poliicies. They only want America to succeed by continuing to apply the failed, discredited Conservative policies of the past. Conservatives are the Poster Boys for Insanity -- continuing to apply the same failed programs of the past and expecting to achieve a different result.

Right-Wing Radio sounds more and more like a daily visitation from America's lunatic asylums.

The Birth Certificate That Won't Go Away

Conservatives should keep focusing on Obama's Birth Certificate. They're showing all Americans what cretinous morons they are. Their priorities are reversed and their heads are screwed on backwards. No wonder President Obama is by far the most popular political figure in America today, with an approval rating more than double that of any Republican. He is focusing on the real issues that confront Americans, whereas Conservatives are living in the Merry Old Land of Oz. I doubt if the American people will ever again trust Conservatives with the reins of power. The Right-Wing's obsessive focus on Obama's birth certificate simply reinforces how correct the rest of the country is to keep these Far Right looney-tune Bird-Brains far away from any political power whatsoever.
