And who is putting their own interest over the good of the country? The Right Wing. It’s their way or else and they’ll do everything they can to stop us from fighting back. Blind obedience to the REICH-wing has gone too far. Enough is enough.
The right wing also stole the “election” the 2nd time where they changed votes automatically on voting machines, which are “regulated” by... Guess who? Yes, Republicans. You do the math.
Germany learned. Obviously America didn’t. The last thing we need is a bunch of little Frieslers on the Bench. Is the Supreme Court turning into the “People’s” Court, which is everything but?"

Then there is Stalin's famous dictum that, rather than being opposites, fascism and social democracy (marxism)were "twins".
I know that the Progressives like to accuse the right of being fascists; it sounds really good and is a usful scare tactic, but it is not based in fact.

Communism and Socialism stand for government ownership of the means of production. When the Communists took over Russia in 1917, they immediately nationalized all industry, and Stalin went so far as to eliminate small farmers and turn all of agriculture into large collective production.
Nazi Germany was powered by huge industrial corporations, including Siemens, Krupp, I. G. Farben, Bayer, Messerchmidt, Junkers, Daimler-Benz, etc. -- many of which used vast amounts of slave labor during the war.
The Soviet Union had no such large private corporations. All means of production were owned by the Soviet government.
There was a world of difference between the Russian and German economic structures. The fact that Hitler's Nazi Party was an acronym for National Socialism does not mean that the Nazis were Socialists. On the contrary, Hitler was dedicated to the destruction of Marxism. Marxist Socialism and Communism were Hitler's avowed enemies, not part of his movement.
So, large corporations had lots of power and control under Nazism and Fascism, but such corporations did not exist under Communism where everything was controlled by the government.
In the United States, we always have the risk that big corporations and wealthy individuals will gain too much power over the rest of the people. Here, we use government as an arbiter, as a counter-balance, to prevent corporations from becoming so rich and powerful that they destroy everyone else.
Obama is not trying to introduce Socialism here. He is trying to save capitalism from self-destruction, preserve our banks and financial system, and use government to prevent corporations from becoming so all-powerful that the working class and middle class are crushed.

We disagree again. The only reason that they BECAME avowed enemies was because Hitler's Nationalism. In the begining, the 2 countries carved up Europe and Stalin was good with that. Stalin was distrustful of Hitler as Hitler's asperations were to invade Russia and Stalin knew that. Hitler did not want to share world domination.
The main difference between Marxism and Communism is the Nationalism. Both are totalitarian regimes, with the government in control of everything.
I have never said that Hitler was any part of a Marxist regime. Fascism is different from Marxism, but the fundamentals are similar. Very similar. Total government control of business and industry are goals of both. The WAY that that is acheived is where the difference lies.

I agree with you, Casey, that Fascism and Communism are both totalitarian. They both have that in common.
But Fascism is Corporatism. It is a system where large corporations and business people have the control and the power. Everything is not owned by the government, as under Communism. Fascism exists for the perpetuation and prosperity of the wealthy few at the top.
That's why so many German businessmen supported Hitler -- while they opposed Communism. Hitler and the Fascists were there to protect the interests of the super-wealthy, whereas the Communists would have nationalized their businesses.
The American Far Right, to the extent that it allows unbridled freedom to the super-rich, and does away with government regulation and controls, is creating a system that leads to Fascism.
Ronald Reagan said that government is the enemy. He was wrong. The American government represents the American people. Our government is the only force powerful enough to prevent unbridled power from residing in the super-rich, and provide protection for the vast majority of people who are not at the top of the economic ladder.
To oppose government programs like Social Security, Medicare, minimum wages, maximum hours, government regulations providing safe and sanitary workplace conditions, etc. -- is insane and delusional. To eliminate these programs would hurt most Americans, not benefit them.
