A productive meeting with Republicans on Health Care Reform? We'll see. Can an elephant change its spots?
Here's a hopeful message from Organizing For America -- February 26, 2010:
"President Obama gathered with congressional leaders of both parties yesterday for an open, honest, and productive discussion on health reform. It was a strong success, focused on substance -- as CNN put it, "a win for our country."
While disagreements remain, the meeting uncovered considerable areas of overlap, including many Republican ideas that were already in the President's proposal. And with all the best ideas now on the table, the President made it clear that no excuses remain: Congress must put aside partisan divides and swiftly complete a final bill.
The President was crystal clear about his commitment to pass reform that puts Americans in charge of their own health care, reduces costs, and expands coverage for tens of millions without insurance. We've come too far to scrap a year's worth of work and start over. And the millions of Americans that are suffering can't afford another year-long debate. There's simply too much at stake.
Yesterday's bipartisan meeting was a huge step forward toward passing reform. And today, you can help make sure we go the rest of the way."
Will the Republicans follow through with any bi-partisanship on Health Care Reform? That remains to be seen.
However, if the past is prologue ---- I wouldn't hold my breath.

No doubt that this administration will try to ram this Bill down our throats. To their peril as 76% of the population does not like or want this Bill as it stands.
The majority of the people wants a public option. Don't forget that the Liberals are in the majority.
Cons are sore losers and have been working their butts off to scare gullible people.
Congress and Senators have been bought by the health insurance co's and others who would lose out by implementing the original plan. 8 Lobbyists per person. Guess who will benefit now? You guessed it right..... the health insurance co's et all.
As I said before. Repugnicans/Cons don't have the interest of people in mind.
Translation: they're the ones who are and have been bought out more by lobbyists than any others.
Everyone in the USA will lose if/when the health insurance co's win.

Again, Anon2. You can't just pull numbers out of your ass. Liberals are NOT in the majority in this country. Only 23% of Americans consider themselves liberal, and 76% of Americans do NOT want this Bill. The figures are out there for all to see, you just have to get in the habit of researching before making statements.
Obama was elected as President for many promises, one of them health care for everyone.
Period!

That does not support your statement that there is a liberal majority, or that the majority of Americans want this Bill. Simple truth is neither statement is correct

So whats taking so long? Republicans support many ideas shared by democrat. So why dont we pass a bill that uses those strengths?
Is it because the democrats dont really care about Americans? Instead, the only thing they care about is getting what they want and having more power?
I think that the continued pushing of Cap & Trade, even in the light of the new evidence of the global warming hoax begining to unravel is evidence that this is not really about "saving the planet" as much as it is about billions of dollars and control of populations.
"Is it because the democrats dont really care about Americans?"

It's because cons only care about the their insurance company crony's.
Cons only understand simple, because they are not wired for complex thought. Recent studies have proven this. So cons think all you need is more competition, which is actually a race to the bottom. That is, a race to who can come up with the crappiest cheapest insurance first. That's why states regulate insurance now. To ensure a certain standard is adhered to. And currently, any insurance company can compete in any state, once they agree to play by that states rules. But cons don't like rules, those pesky regulations, they want their insurance companies to have free rein to rape it's own customers, in the name of profit. Any discussion always seems to circle back to their God, money.
Genial brief and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Say thank you you as your information.
